You can try to get one from the alienware part store. But I think you will need a Alienware serial number...

well you can get one here for $415, but its mxm 2.1. i'm not sure if msi use mxm 2.1 or just a proprietary slot.

I'm pretty sure that MSI uses a standard MXM slot, the MXM version number pretty much just indicates the physical size of the card IIRC. The problem in swapping cards will be the heatsink attachment, as they're not very standard and will likely require the ability to fabricate a new heatsink attachment or to have one made by a friend or something.

(ASUS does their "proprietary" MXM slot by simply reversing the electrical connections, so I wouldn't pick up any ASUS MXM cards unless you are 100% certain that it's standard MXM and not ASUS' little joke.)

The GTX280m is not that much more, $490

There was a guy in the 1651/GT625/or GT627 thread that put various MXM GPUs into one of those models, I've forgotten which thread and who it was, but he had to make new heatsinks + attachments for each card, but they worked.

I was going to buy an asus mxm card for my 1722, but when i looked closer, I notice that it is physically impossible to install it (it's left side sticks out farther then the normal mxm card).
