Like the title says I have just seen a news about a MSI PE70 on notebookcheck. Now I've seen pictures e.g. here
and it looks almost identical to the GE62/72 series. Is there anything different about it, other than the finish? Cooling enhanced or so?
Apart from that: the looks are much better than the red MSI-Gaming-Series sticker. Much better.
Unfortunately the screenshot shows that the Windows-Start-Button is still on the wrong side![]()

Models with "P" in the name usually come with a lower end GPU and the machine is more meant as a media machine with solid CPU.
-
Probably will only have Iris Pro for graphics, or something like a 940M at best.

I've just saw them on video and they got even a 960m. Looks very nice to me:

Is that a high gamut IPS? oh baby. -

Seems like a slightly different focus, people have been waiting for high gamut IPS displays so this is quite interesting

Gamut is possibly rated at around 95%+.

I do like the new chassis design. Its a good option for people who want to get away from the gamer look.
-
Since the chassis of the PE60 looks like it is basically just a recolouring of the GE62, would it be possible to swap it into the GE62? I want a 970m, but this looks much prettier to me.

Yes but it would be an expensive way of going about things.

Did anybody get a PE70/60? I am very interested in purchasing this wonderful notebook.

The screen looks great. I've tried three models over the past few months (Acer, Lenovo) and this is the first screen that looks great out of the box. The only odd thing I've noticed so far is that when Windows 8 loads it is super bright, but then dims slightly after a second. I think it's the TrueColor software kicking in. Also, the computer had trouble shutting down (endless animation), but once I updated Windows 8 with the 95 updates, it works fine. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be trying some gaming soon and may update this post later. -
It's probably the auto-brightness feature in windows 8 , it's on by default and if you go to PC settings you can turn it off and not have the screen dimming effect.

UPDATE #1:
Played a little on the laptop yesterday. The dual fans (one on each bottom side) really work great. With high graphic settings in some stand-alone and MMO games the laptop stayed really cool. I didn't even need to use the "cool button" feature. The fans put out a little noise, but nothing noteworthy.
I'm still getting used to the keyboard. The "delete" key, believe or not, is in a weird spot separate from the main keyboard. I surprisingly use that key a lot so it takes some getting used to. There's also a lot of real estate on the keyboard itself (it's well spread out). Definitely not my favorite keyboard, but not a dealbreaker for me.
I noticed the Shift Mode, i.e., "Sport", "Comfort" and "Green", function key. Not sure what the default is, but I'm keeping it on "Comfort" for now. Apparently, Sport boosts CPU and GPU (overclocks), Comfort turbos CPU only and Green doesn't boost any of them. Interesting little item.
The laptop seems bigger to me than 15.6", but that's just the form factor. I did notice that there were a couple of items I could get for free for purchasing the laptop, but they required getting serial numbers off the video card and motherboard (go figure). Make sure to jot these down when you open the case. I'm not in the mood to open the case again right now so I may forego those items.
The SSD drive really made a differnce in speed. No problems so far with Wireless connection. -

MSI have kept the same cooling as the chassis versions with a higher end GPU. This means that it has no issue cooling and should be able to work all day long

Hey I wonder if the m.2 slot supports Samsung EVO 250 m.2? Should 2280 size work?
Anyone knows if it only supports sata interface? How about PCIe ssd??
Heat issue during gaming? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Based off the chassis and board it will be SATA based.
-
- glad it works fine

2. Only 2280 size is compatible.
3. PCIe SSD is not supported.
4. No heat issues.
There are also lots of reviews on Youtube that you can find, most of responses are positive.gyoung likes this. -
Thanks. Have seen all of them including the non-english one. ;S I need a better and more comprehensive review like the ge62 that gentechpc has done few weeks ago. Like dBA noise, temperature at idle and under stress, general quality build..
