OK, so I want to remove one of my four hard drive and put it in an enclosure, but I don't know if I should get it for USB or Firewire.... Does MS-1013 have the 800 firewire or is it 400?

Then again the plug is in the front and not on the side which would be annoying....

    Thanks

The 1013 has a 400 firewire. If you can get an enclosure with both a USB and firewire then got for that. I don't suggest buying an enclosure with only firewire since most PC and laptops don't have firewire built-in while USB is in all* PCs and laptops.

On the 1029 the firewire port is also at the front. Which isnt a problem it self except I have found the mini F.W. plug to be to short to stand even the smallest wiggle. Even as a side port. (My Wife's laptop has a side port and it doesnt help it stay inserted)
BUT if you need extra performance it is the way to go. (Unless you want to buy a SATA PC card adaptor.) Before you say BS, know this.... USB 2.0 is 480 Mbps F.W. 400 is well 400, but look at what USB gets used for, let alone what it might be used for internally. Plus Windows XP keeps a 15% reserve (that I havent found a way to change) for system use of the USBus.
With my 3.5 external enclosure, 3-way interface, USB runs 22 MBps, firewire runs ~28 MBps, and my SATA PC card runs at ~35 MBps, (which I suspect is what's left of the PCI bus for it to use.)
