    Hey all,

I'm sorry to post here for the first time with an URGENT title .. however I need to know by 1.30pm (1 hour from now) whether I'm getting this lappy... the thing that's keeping me back is whether the memory bandwidth of the 7600 on this laptop is 64 bit or 128 bit. How do I find out? Does anyone know?

Download and install 3dMark05 or 3dMark06. You should be able to pull up system info relating to the GPU architecture.

You can't control the memory bandwidth; it is a hardware based limitation of the card and no software could change that. Same thing with the amount of memory a card uses.

    Thanks all for the replies!

I eventually just went and bought it and like cream626 said, its 128bit :D

Hard disk is only 80gb though and its a bit on the small side for my usage :( gonna have to figure an upgrade out!

To cream626... how is the battery life on your laptop? Mine's lasting around an hour and a half at the most! :O

yeah, hour and a half at full performance. It should have come with applications that allow for dimming the lcd and switchin to max battery performance which after that get under 2 hours, bout 1:50 or so.

If its of big concern to you, you might wana think about upgrading the battery to the 9-cell for a bit over $100. Their offered online at various places, you can google it. I'm told that the 9 cell allows for an extra hour of battery time...i guess that makes sense if you do the math..

The notebook does have an application to customize power management.......

The System Control Manager; you can adjust screen brightness, cpu throttle, gpu throttle, and much more. If you optmize these settings you will get close to 3 hours on the 6 cell and more with the 9...... :D

Yes, the notebook does have an application to change power management, that why i said it does..

quick question though Noclue, Is there an advanced mode that allows for manually changing the "cpu throttle, gpu throttle, and much more" to particular percentages? or are you referring to the buttons they provide (i.e. high battery performance, dvd movie, full performance) because when i click on max battery, then all it will allow me is under 2 hours. I can't even get over 2! what type of things u changin in order to allow for more?

You can modify/customize each mode. high battery performance: enter into the setup options for this mode and there are many features you can change. The cpu options are in here and can be changed to: Full performance, adaptive, or max battery life. The gpu can be adjusted in the Nvidia control panel.

I can not use System Control Manager. With my SCM software can change power status. But can not setup the power schema. I click setup button. and shows setup screen, but not show anything in cells.

Do you know this problem's solution?
    Thanks...

Try and uninstall and reinstall SCM. go to msi.com.tw and check under utilities for the downoad link. The 1.75 is the latest version though. :/

Try removing dot net 2.0, i have seen it cause problems with the SCM and other programs with some models.
