    Hi,

I've just bought a GT729 and for some reason there are two partitions. The system partition is very small, way too small.

Is there any way of moving memory from the other partition to the system one?

    Thanks all.

    Bob

If the system is delivered with Vista or Windows 7 it will hold a recovery partition or it hold the recovery files for the Windows installation recovery.
If this is adjusted no recovery or system recovery is accessible.
This can be adjusted deleted or merged into the Windows partition, but ask yourself this do you need the small amount of extra space or will you leave the recovery option in it's origin to recover the system to factory defaults or default Windows.

No it's not the recovery partition.

Everything is saved there automatically, it's where Windows Vista lives.

    And it's running out. ahhhhh##

Sorry but can't get the screen shots to work.

If it helps, I tried shrinking one partition and extending the other but it wont let me extend it because it's a boot partition.

wait ??? you should have 2 partitions one for vista and one for the recovery. they will show as drive c: and maybe d: or e: normally

    is this the case?

if so you *could* wipe the recovery one out but you will not be able to do a restore to the factory image if you do that. i normally always wipe those but i make a back up of the partition first to save off the notebook this way i can use it later. you could do that a few ways if that is your case.

let us know exactly and then we can help further

He actually has three partition's one is hidden (recovery). I also have an MSI (AE2010) that came with the same non expandable C partition. My solution was to install win 7 on the D; partition (dual boot) then while booted to seven shrink that partition and Then I could expand the other partition.

X3, that sounds the same as me!

Isn't it possible to just install windows 7 so that there aren't any partitions?

Bobby, you can use "paragon partition manager", I used it to expand my C:\ partition, it came with just 34 GB, gigantic D:\ and a hidden "not formatted" recovery partition. I increased C:\ to 150 GB, Partition manager is the best tool than I know to do that. You don't lose any data and don't need reinstall windows... Anyway be careful is you're running Linux too, GRUB (bootloader) go crazy when you changes any partition.

    So, try it!

    Regards!
