The new ROG Zephyrus GM501 can switch between Optimus and G-Sync mode using software and it requires a reboot. AFAIK G-Sync on laptops is using software solution only and my GS73VR comes with a G-Sync certified screen. So is it possible to do the same thing on MSI laptop? Many thanks.

It does not use software, it uses hardware. It's a muxswitch which switches from iGPU to dGPU.

The MSI GT series has the muxswitch even on older models (2015 and newer), I don't think you have it. So no way for you to use intel GPU.

Thanks for your explanation. Looks like my only solution is to buy an external G sync monitor. :(

    I'm confused.

Isnt the GS73VR a Gsync notebook?

EDIT: ah yeah I see, it has optimus.
