If you came here looking for a solution to a similar problem, sorry, I can't help you. My problem essentially went away by itself.

    Hi guys,

I bought a used (in new condition) MSI GX620 2 months ago. It worked well. On occasion, I heard high-pitched buzzing/whining noises. About a week ago, when I was opening Steam, the display went black. I tried to restart, etc - nothing would work. However, I could still hear sounds of background apps.

HDMI output also did not work. I figured it's a video card problem, so I ordered a nVidia Quadro FX 540 off eBay. Removed backplate, heatsink, replaced card, cleaned and reapplied thermal paste, put it all back together. No difference. Still not HDMI output and nothing on the screen.

    Help me please?

Have you tried to reseat anything, Like the processor, Hard drive?? Maybe the Quadro is not compatible. Its worth a shot trying to reseat some of the hardware.

It wouldn't make sense that I can boot into Windows and use applications if the processor and hard drive weren't seated properly, I think. For example: I have a Voip phone that starts automatically, and on top of other apps. I can dial numbers and have phone calls going (wireless network is connected to automatically, too).

But no, I haven't tried to reseat anything. Does that simply mean take out and put back in? I could try that.

Would the LCD plug be under the main cover, or would I have to take out the entire bottom of the laptop? I think I've reseated everything that I could access.

Old video card is in, and problem is gone. I have no idea why. Let's hope it doesn't reappear. Thanks for everything, though :)
