I have never owned an MSI laptop before so i'm curious to see how the build quality is. I understand that these laptops give you a lot 'bang' for your buck but doesn't that usually mean they compromise on the build quality?

Specifically speaking I am looking at the new MSI GT 60 series, basically the setup is $2,000+. That's serious money... And I would like to know what everyone here has experienced with as far as the build quality goes (as far as durability, heat dispersion etc etc).

    Thank you for your input!

I just received my GT60 yesterday, so I haven't had much time to test it out, but so far I am liking it a lot.

I played a few matches of Mechwarrior Online which runs on the cry engine 3 (same as crysis 3) with every setting on max, and it ran beautifully.

Heat wise it peaked around 80C at around 26C ambient temperature (we haven't turned on our AC yet).

Both speakers and keyboard are top notch, and the screen looks good.

To me the trackpad feels a little weird, but that is most likely just because its not completely worn out like my old laptop's track pad.

Durability I haven't owned it long enough to comment on, first impression is it looks/feels okay, however.

When idling the computer makes almost no noise at all, but when I turned the fans to maximum it was a little on the loud side but didn't bother me unless the game was completely silent (ie. on load screens).

I've owned a MSi GT627 for four years and I never had any problem with it, and it still works fine. That's better than my previous Dell (Dell 700m) which gave me many issues over the years.

Sure, I'm only one person in a vast sea of people who bought that laptop, so I'm not statiscally relevant, but after browsing these forums, I sure didn't see that much problems with MSi laptops.

We don't really get negative feedback on the construction quality on the MSI laptops. The aesthetics are generally liked, and when something does go wrong, it's seldom a widespread design defect.

Clevo systems are also considered "good bang for the buck" laptops, and many here on NBR will attest that their build quality is also very reputable; a good value doesn't always equate to cheaply made. :D
