Hello all, im thinking of replacing the stock thermal paste, and was looking around for Diamond 7 and stumbled across a nice comparison graph so here it is.

Im hoping we can get a discussion started about thermal paste etc, especially because the GT725 gets farely hot like the GPU can get to 86C etc.
So looking at the graph, coollaboratory liquid pro is a really good cooling solution and goes for £8 in the UK. Which is fantastic from this graph above.

Has anyone experiences with the cooling pastes/solutions? Can they be applied to laptops? Will MSI design allow cooling better?

i use mx-2 and ocz freeze myself and they are both basically the same thing. i was told by someone that they were the same but i cant quote him on that. but imo they are by far the best for the money imo

Hmm, yeah from what i've been told OCZ Freeze is quite good but i also hear alot about AS5 being quite popular too, on laptop mobo's, are there slots in which small fans can be powered? i believe i have some broken 5600FX's with 10mm's that can be detached so i may look into customising the cooling with multiple fans and a mix of paste.

i own a shop and i no longer personally use as5. its a good paste but has some drawbacks that mx2 and freeze do not..

What im curious about is this coolaboritory liquid pro? i think the description reads "It is the first heat conduction paste that consists of 100% liquid metal alloy."
That means it should be able to conduct hell of alot but how will it manage to cool down if its hot hehe.
Anyone know what MSI is using for their cooling solution?

Are MX2 and Arctic Ceramique similar? I am considering replacing my TIM after my warranty is out and I have been looking for the (1) easiest (2) least dangerous (3) best performing. It seems that it is pretty difficult to screw up with ceramique. I was just reading about some kind of new diamond compound that looks interesting, but possibly to risky for us 'non-modders'.

Hmm agreed, this was given away free at the ocforums but its stopped now, it apparently works well, although it crystalises i think from the pictures i've seen, it looks messy but apparently very effective.

The differences btw what most people use to use (AS-5) and the highest end on the chart (Liquid Metal Pro) is pretty small and within range of error. IMO it doesn't really make a big difference (except from going from stock, ie. the lowest in the graph). Any of the ones in the top 10-15 will do, so I would just find whichever is the cheapest.

True true, i have been told however, that i shouldn't really go near conductive metal cooling solutions, i cant remember where i saw it but any reason why it was suggested?

Really this isn't a problem unless you spill it. Basically, metal is electrically conductive. This means you can short out your system if you connect metal to another part that has power running through it.

correct just dont get it on any of the metal contacts or pins

just non conductive on the GPU b/c you'd be applying it close to components that you could short.
