Just contact Tom Ho from MSI for the release date of GT628. Too bad that he told me this model won't be available in US any more.

Well it's being discontinued in Canada(most likely due to a refresh with new upcoming technology) so I figured that if it came to the US now that it'd be outdated.

Wait, are you telling me GT628 will never be shipped in US, and those pre-orders are a waste of time?

This is due to the new mobile i5/i7 processors being released. It is sad to say but all GT models will likely follow suit with the GT628.

OMG!!!!! I HATE MSI. Goodness I've been waiting on this laptop for a long time! I wish I bought the GT 627-218 while it was still selling. Arg..

Does anyone know if they will be making a similar model w/ different specs, like a gaming laptop that is somewhat portable?

What I never could understand is how can you stope selling one model of a lapop, not being able to offer another one? There should always be a supply, since there's constant demand. I someone wants to buy a laptop, he is not gonna wait for 3 months.

There are tons of places, I got my barebone from frosty.

    This is from RK computers:
The only difference between the barebone and the one that isn't coming out is the gray vs red trim.
    Preconfig:

this isn't the only place that sells them.

    Indeed it does... T-T
Hmm... It's high time to have a long conversation with my reseller...
Btw, I'm planning to get other models instead of waiting this GT729. Do you have any suggestion to what model that is equal in performance with GT729?
    Thanks in advance.

Yeah does anyone know when in October. I will deal with not having a laptop somehow, maybe get a netbook or bring my desktop to the new place I'm living in.

Well that really sucks especially for all the people who pre-ordered or were just waiting for this model.
No wonder why it was delayed for so long.
I hope at least the "newer" model (whatever they are going to call it) is going to be worth the wait and not cost too much more than the model it was going to replace.
    Bummer
I will say this, the barebone model is really good.
But this was a total surprise.
