Don't overlook MSI's warranty requirements folks! Registering the notebook is simple enough, but requires an extra step beyond 'online' registration. After doing this online, you will receive an email that states:

I point this out because according to MSI's website, they must receive this within 30-days from the ' date of purchase'..... so don't delay! Also, after completing this process, I recommend later logging back onto the registration site, to follow-up on your warranty 'status'.

NOTE: In the video above, Xotic PC negleted to select option ' Disable PPU' in their 3DMark Vantage benchmark testing. Thus, the overall score they are reporting is deceptively inflated.
When testing NVidia graphics cards, failure to do this will result in misleading and erroneously high numbers for the 'CPU Score', and the overall '3DMark Score'.
For a more realistic ' stock' 3DMark Vantage score of the NVidia GTX-680M, please see my screenshot below in post #2. Also, GenTech PC's 'Showcase & Performance' video accurately depicts true GTX-680M Vantage results.

It's HERE, in all it's splendor, the awesomely glorious MSI GT70 0NE-276US!

Now let's proceed with the unveiling (unboxing).....

Keep in mind the following benchmarks were done strait from the box, factory graphics drivers (302.75), no Turbo (TDE), and no system tweaks or optimizations. These scores should only be considered a 'stock' baseline.

    Final unboxing thoughts:

Compared with the former GT783 series, the MSI GT70 0NE-276US appears to be yet another winner, but this one is on steroids. Every bit as aesthetically pleasing (perhaps even more so) as it's predecessor, with enhanced features, leading-edge 3rd GEN Intel Core i7, mSATA SuperRAID SSD's, and NVIDIA's GTX-680M, MSI is again paving the way in gaming notebook excellence.

Straight from the box, and after initial boot and set-up, this thing is FAST folks! I can't wait to see what it will do with a fresh WIN 7 install, some optimization, and planned future upgrades. Once again, MSI and Ken at GenTechPC have my gratitude for a job well done, and they put a big smile on my face. '-=$tr|k3r=- Approved', the new MSI GT70 0NE-276US is indeed, pure notebook nirvana.

To all future Owner's.... ENJOY! (because I sure am!)

Yeah, I figure with the new breed Kepler GTX-680M models, are deserving of their own threads. Hopefully an owner of the new GT60 models will do the same.

Same launch day? Doubtful, but I have seen a non-SuperRAID SKU to be released at a later time...... shortly.

Also, I think most of the notebooks released since the early GT780's have had Synaptic touchpads. I am hopeful these new units will have the same, and I'll verify this soon..... hopefully this Friday or Saturday!

Will be waiting patiently for that review since this is one of my choices for my next laptop. I'm liking the fact that you guys have an open BIOS, Clevo's BIOS left a bad taste on my mouth. Hopefully MSI makes a X-Fire/SLi capable system in the near future.

The Super Raid adapter is secured into the primary drive bay with 2 screws, the same as the normal SATA connector.

If you have a spare normal connector the Super Raid adapter can be swapped out to the normal one so a single normal SATA SSD can be installed or a mechanical hard drive.

The stock mSATA SSDs in Super Raid models can be swapped to other mSATA SSDs like the Crucial M4 mSATA,Muskin Atlas DX and MyDigitalSSD SMART or ADATA SX300 for better performance.

The primary drive bay in all GT70 and GT60 models is the only SATA III bay.

Since the GT60,GT70,16F3 and 1762 all use the same motherboard the Super Raid adapter will probably work in all of them.

Likewise all the above models are restricted to having SATA III only in the primary drive bay.

I'm guessing the only SATA3 port in the laptop will be using the SUPER RAID. Do you guys have any info on what the USB3 controller(Renesas, Fresco Logic, T.I., Intel) is gonna be?

Me! I was posting in the other GT60/70 thread about picking up a standard GT70 with the 675M.. I put it on the backburner for a bit and came back to the XOTICPC site the other day to see that the 680M was coming on 7/27 so that sealed the deal for me. Just put in my order last night! :D

Previous models were equipped with Renesas USB 3, so I am guessing these new models will be the same. I'll verify this soon......

    :)

Congratz..... and Welcome to the Party!

I am hoping mine will arrive tomorrow or Saturday.

So were is everyone ordering their GT70 0NE-276US from? I wanted to use amazon cause their warehouse is really close so I get shipments next day but they don't have it available yet and have no ETA. I talked with xoticpc this morning and they said that they should be getting it in tomorrow but they still don't know for sure. It seems odd though cause if they were getting it in from MSI tomorrow then they should have already shipped to xoticpc so I would think they would know that they are at least in transit.

You can order through any of the resellers now taking pre-orders (securing a unit and your place in line). A list of these resellers can be found in the lead (No.1) post of this thread. I pre-ordered through GenTechPC, and I expect to receive it tomorrow or Saturday...... however, I did hear possibly a delay till Monday. To the contrary, I remain positive and expect them to remain on schedule without delay. (waved my magic wand) ;)

You may want to get your order in quickly, because when the first shipment is sold-out (or alloted), there will be further delay awaiting future shipments.

    :)

I put my order through with XOTIC last night. The ETA is July 27th, but there could always be a hiccup in transit which is probably why they wouldn't give you that date as a firm 100%. That being said, I did some upgrades to my model so I'll be waiting a few more days at least. As long as I got in soon enough to get one from the first shipment of stock it'll be worth it in the end, IMO. :)

    Hi Folks,

I have just made several updates to the thread's lead post, and some of you may be interested in reviewing the 'Stock Hardware Info' section. It turns out the mSATA SuperRaid SSD's are not SanDisk U100 series as some have claimed..... least that's not what I received.

I am not gonna tell ya though.... ya gotta go look!

    ENJOY!

Does the RAID 0 implementation allow you to put a password on the hard disk for boot up like most SSD's allow? This seems pretty standard, but not sure if it works or is available to put a hard disk password when doing RAID 0.

    LOL! Easy Fellas!

When a new model hits the street, I realize it's hard not to request a bizillion benchmarks or other info...... BUT, I have barely had the time to get out the information provided thusfar. It just arrived Friday evening, and I still have to run my other test (like MemTest86), a fresh WIN 7 install, all updates, all drivers, security, optimizations, personal software installs, etc.

Please allow a little time and I am sure myself, Ken, or some other new owner will provide the info you seek.

PLUS, I'd like to play a little too! Is this Ok? Can I, Can I, Can I ?

    FYI,

I just completed a complete pass of MemTest86, and I am pleased to report the stock Elixir memory tested flawlessly. Time: 31 minutes.

In earlier test ( HERE) of GT780/783 motebooks, 31 minutes is somewhat a testament to the new GT70's improved memory and mainly the advanced 3rd GEN processor. This now has me considering a 3820QM upgrade, LOL!

    (I'll let ya now Ken......)

Off-hand I'd say MSI made a good choice in this at the entry level. I haven't done any formal testing yet, but I can tell connectivity is very solid...... connects to the network almost instantly, streams solidly, and good reception range. As a multi-streaming (up to 300 Mbps), single band (2.4GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 combo card, I think it will adequately serve the needs of most users when connected to high-speed wireless networks.

    Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230: Product Brief

For those desiring dual-band operations or higher burst speeds (if your wireless router is capable), you may want to consider an Intel or BigFoot upgrade.

I have considered PassMark WirelessMon, but with it's 30-day limit and full version pricetags, Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector is another FREE alternative.

    :)

I see XoticPc has a new sku ready for preorder, msi gt70 one-416us. Does this one have only 1 msata drive? It looks like its setup in raid 0. How would that work with the msata and 500gb? Also i wonder if it only has 1 msata drive does it come with the super raid Adaptor. Thanks, Brim.

I'm not a GT70 owner (yet), but I thought this would be a good place to ask a few questions if that's okay. I'm trying to decide if I should buy the default configuration from newegg (or elsewhere if there's a better deal), or if I should get a custom one from xoticpc. There are a few upgrade that they do that I think may be worth it and I'd like to get some input. Here's the upgrades I was looking at from xoticpc:

    - IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU (Cools better than all Compounds) (XPC Service)
    - COPPER COOLING UPGRADE - Extra Cooling Copper Heatsinks Applied to the Heatsink/Heatpipes (XPC Service)
    - Red Logo Backlight Modification (XPC Service)
    - 2 Year MSI US/Canada Parts & Labor 1 Year Global Warranty w/ Lifetime Tech Support
+ 1 Year Accidental Damage Warranty (Requires Registration within 30 Days from Ship Date) (SKU - M9R301)
    - Yes, I would like XOTIC PC’s White Glove Premium Packaging (XPC Service)

My big question is, do you think the copper cooling upgrade and the thermal paste upgrades are worth while? The red backlight, the white glove service, and the warranty are kind of just for fun (well, maybe not the warranty).

I apologize if this was the wrong thread to ask this in. I definitely want to get a GT70, but wanted to know if it's worth the upgrades I'm looking at before I pull the trigger.

I would definitely suggest you purchase from an authorized MSI custom 'Reseller'. Customizing your notebook or not, they can provide a level of protection, satisfaction, and service that warehouse box e-tailers cannot. They can also assist you when dealing directly with the manufacturer...... a mediator of sorts. These professionals are also best to speak with regarding your notebook inquiries.

As far as upgrades or customization, I'd say make up your mind and GO for it. Ask for input and opinions, and you are sure to get a myriad of them. These things tend to be a matter of personal preference, and ultimately you'll buy to your level of budget, comfort and desire, anyhow.

Are you considering a GT70 with the new GTX-680M? If not, you may want to consider posting HERE. This is the exclusive/elite GT70 Owner's Lounge. :D

    :)

I have added the specs for this new SKU to the thread's lead post. It will only have one 128GB mSATA SSD (primary drive), and a 500 GB SATA II HDD (secondary). Technically, this unit will 'support' mSATA SuperRAID, but we really won't know about interfacing until we can get hands-on.

    :)

GT70 0NE-416US RAID is disabled by default, it's actually the same notebook as GT70 0NE-267US but 416 only comes with one 128GB mSATA + 500GB and 12GB of RAM.

    Hi guys,
Is it possible to put usual HDDs into RAID0 (secondary plus the same HDD in ODD bay replacing optical drive) in GT70 0NE-276US model?
Can anyone help me out to understand?
I would like to use SuperRAID mSATA drives along with RAID0 with two additional 750Gb HDDs.
I guess there will be no advantage of RAID0 of SSDs (Secondary + ODD) coz ODD bay looks like SATA II.
