From what I've messed around with it, I'm not too impressed. Other than the equalizer I don't see much use for it. I'm not a complete audiophile but I do enjoy good sound when using headphones especially the more expensive ones. I may just be adjusting settings wrong, but I don't see much benefit to changing settings vs leaving them alone. It's one of those things that might come in handy one and a while, but I don't see it as a must have by any means as there is software out there that will be able to do the same thing.

I have it on my GT683. I notice a HUGE difference with it on. I have it just set to Default. I put a song on (I like Hard Trance style music) then open up the THX TrueStudio Pro. I push the power button on the top left corner to disable it completely and it makes an absolutely MASSIVE difference.

I have messed about with it a little a few times but always just click Restore Default and leave it as it is.

Default has Smart Volume and Dialogue Plus disabled.

Unless there is different versions on different Laptops (I assume there must be at least hardware wise) when you say Equilizer you mean the Chrystalizer right?

Running version 1.02.11 on my GT683. I also have 7.1ch set in the Audio control panel. 7.1 (at least in the configuration test thing) sounds awesome compared to the default Stereo, and even though this laptop cannot be 7.1ch, everything sounds perfect in the test.

Currently I've set everything off except virtual surround. But i don't know what to set the speaker settings to Built-in/Headphones/External Speakers.

I'm just using it for the virtual surround when playing games. So in that respect should i use the THX software or the Realtek surround software that s part of the onboard?

Currently have it set to External

Of course it depend on what Laptop you are using as I assume different models have different audio hardware (Maybe not, but lets assume so).

You should have it set to Built-in Speakers. Of course if you ARE using an External device then o course select External. I guess the same could be said for Headphones, but since I haven't tested the difference in sound between Built-in and Headphones using Built-in nor Headphones. In my settings it's set to "Follow Windows Default" meaning it will use whatever is set as default in Windows, which in normal use is the Onboard speakers using Realtek HD Audio.

The best way to see if it sounds better is to do what I mentioned in my last post. Play a song or movie or somthing and then in the THX program click the Disable button in the top corner to turn it off, then click it again to turn it back on. Doing this of course lets you hear the differnce it makes.

From my personal experience I'd recommnd using the Default settings. Click the upside down triangle in the top right corner and select Restore Defaults. You can also set it back to how you had it if you prefer it how you had it before.

The THX and Realtek HD Audio software both have different settings and do different things, so use them both. In my case in THX I have default selected (Surround, Chrystalizer and Speaker). In the Realtek HD Audio app I just have my speaker Configuration set to 7.1 Speaker. (BTW just noticed that the THX Speaker option is Enabled but set and stuck at zero with anything above Quadrophonic set in Realtek HD Audio). The Test sounds great with the 5.1 and 7.1 settings so thats why I use 7.1 even though clearly the laptop doesn't have 7.1.

Sorry for the long post but mess about with the settings a bit. Try changing your Speaker config in Realtek program for example, like i did to 7.1.

    Hope that helps you.

    I'm on a GE620DX, Realtek ALC892

I've tested it and theres no difference in sound when im using the external speakers setting. The headphones setting seems to up the bass a bit like crystallizer and tones down the highs. I'm just using THX on the assumption that it would be better at virtual surround compared to the realtek software. I'm only using senn cx-300ii's since the onboard can't drive anything larger :/

Ah I dunno then mate sorry. Looking at your machine versus mine ( MSI GT683) yours doesn't have the same kind of speakers and such (on mine if you look at the pic it has rather large speakers on the top corners just under the screen) and a subwoofer (tho I dunno where that is). "Sound by DYNAUDIO"

I guess just depends on what hardware is in the machine. Like I said it sounds truely AWESOME on mine.

I set speakers to "External Speakers" when using headphones to avoid the enhancements. and "Built-in" when using built-in. Headphones seems to have a lot of enhancements and seems to widen the soundstage. Everything is off except the surround. I have no idea how the crossoverfrequency setting works so i set it to the lowest.

Also anyone know what exactly the Cinemapro button does? it seems to up contrast by alot but thats it.
