I have read that some other manufacturers (HP) have been disabling support for hardware VT in the BIOS for the Intel Core 2 Duo Processors in the 7000-series processors. Since the MS-1719 uses one of these processors, the question needs to be asked, has anyone tried running a Virtual Machine with Hardware Virtualization support enabled on the MS-1719?

Because I didn't get an answer, I just purchased the MS-1719 I was looking at from CyberPowerPC. It does support hardware virtualization.

I just got my MS-1719 and was pleasantly surprised to see that virtualization is enabled by default (no bios settings). Also, since I exclusively run Linux, it is the most Linux compatible laptop I ever had. All the hardware works, even the SD card reader. I haven't tried the video camera yet though. Perhaps tonight.

I actually have had more problems with FedEx than I had with CyberPower. Aside from forgetting to send the system restore CD, they have been very good about taking care of me post-purchase. I did have to email them twice to get the CD to be shipped, but after I did that (politely I might add), they had it to me within three days. I have noticed a few odd things, like the absence of CD/DVD burning software but didn't find it too annoying to complain (yet) since there are a few good free alternatives out there.
I would have to agree with other user's comments about the Linux compatability of the MS-1719. I decided to try out the latest release of Ubuntu (7.10) the other day. I was amazed to see that basically everything was detected and worked without me spending hours finding drivers. My wireless card, Intel 4965AGN, worked right away (although I have read reports that it will stop working and will require a reboot). The only annoying thing was that the power management daemon kept thinking that the laptop was on battery power even though it was on AC power so the screen kept dimming and then brightening.
I'm really quite pleased with my purchase. -
I'm glad to hear that it's working out for you, and about your Linux experience; very encouraging!
