Hi All- I'm aiming to buy the GT60 3K edition from XoticPC: XOTIC PC | MSI GT60 2OD-261US , but I am little confused about SuperRaid 2. Was hoping some of you GT60/70 experts could help me clarify a couple things :)

MSI says that SuperRaid 2 helps achieve storage speeds of 1500MB/s: MSI Global GT60 2OD 3K IPS Edition

XoticPC offers a configuration of the 3K edition with 3x 256GB Samsung PM841 mSATA and I am wondering if I'll get SuperRaid 2 with this combo. According to Xotic, "Super Raid 2 is a Raid 0 configuration spread across three mSATA SSD and the fact that’s it’s called Super Raid 2 is just a name for the configuration. They enable this by using a three way mSATA 6gb/s adapter, but it’s still just a Raid 0 configuration and any three like mSATA SSD installed into the system that supports three mSATA SSD can be put into that raid 0 configuration and the Samsung drives you reference are included in that."

And then I also read that MSI put a special proprietary module into their laptops for SuperRaid 2 so it's a combination of RAID0 + Module.

What do you think? Would I really get that storage speed or am I missing something here?

The super raid 2 adapter sits in a 2.5" bay using a special connector onto the motherboard that provides 3 mSATA bays each with a full SATA gen 3 connection so the each drive will be able to operate at full speed.

Thanks for the info! So if Xotic says they can put all 3 Samsung SSDs into RAID0, does it mean SuperRaid 2 is supported then and will be achieved?

Yes SuperRAID 2 will work regardless of which mSATA drives are put in there, its the adapter they are going into that makes it possible.

As far as the system is concerned each drive is its own entity so treat it as if you have 3 regular drives in the adapter along with the 2.5" bay and optical bay in a desktop.

Would you treat it as 3 regular drives? In RAID 0 you treat it as one large drive.

I would treat it as 3 regular drives that I could put in any mode I liked, raid 0 or 5 or separate, just because it's called the super raid adapter does not mean you are forced to run them in raid.

I get what you're saying now "you" would treat them that way, I was thinking how they would appear in Windows as one large drive if in RAID 0.
