    Hello All,

My GT70 currently has 1 Sandisk 128gb msata in it model sd6sf1m128g and I would like to add 2 more and put them in super raid 2. I have not been able to find the exact ones for a reasonable price, so I am thinking of purchasing 2 Transcend TS128GMSA370 ones from Amazon.ca http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1687860322&pf_rd_i=915398

Does anyone know of any issues that might come from combining ssd's of different manufacturers? Has anyone tried doing this or is it best for me to purchase 3 drives exactly the same.

    Thanks

Different brands are fine, you will just be limited to the speed of the slowest drive so make sure they are at least as fast as your Sandisk.

Not just the slowest drive but the slowest attribute of all the drives in each instance. If one is faster at small files, the other will limit it, if the second is faster at large files the first will limit it and so on. Get a 256GB drive and run it by itself, it will be faster at small files and make the system seem more snappy.

Thank you both for the responses. The reason I want to add more storage is so that I can put my games on SSD rather than the slow 5400rpm storage drive that I currently use for game installs. Would the 256gb drive on it's own work faster in that scenario for the video game loading or would the raid be better? All of the drives have roughly the same read/write speeds, but I do not know for which types of files they are better for.

Also does anyone know if the screws typically come with the msata cards or if they are already installed on the raid card in my laptop? I have not yet cracked it open and cannot see through the vents if they are there or not.

    Thanks

Depends on the game but the single 256gb will at least be fast enough and you can add even more later on.
