I'm encountering a strange issue with my 16L13. When turning the machine on from cold, it will power up like it normally does but shut down before it gets to the boot screen. About 1-3 seconds later, it will power on again and boot/function as normal. What's most odd is that this only happens when using a NVMe SSD. A SATA drive works as expected from the first push of the power button.

This isn't the worst thing in the world, but I'm wondering if there's maybe a BIOS setting I'm missing that's causing this to happen. I'm using the @dsanke modified BIOS because of the 8086K CPU. If anyone has an idea, I'd love to hear it.

It would help if you mention your SSD in your signature rather than just saying "SSD" in your specs

I wanna know are we talking about an NVMe m.2 SSD?

If so, there is an option in the BIOS to change the device type and topology

Make sure the device type/topology actually matches the drive that you have

So for me, for the m.2 SSDs I set them to m.2/SSD

for the 2.5" 850 EVO I set it to iFlex/SSD

If that doesn't solve your issue, then you'd wanna contact the d00d who gave you the BIOS as that's not normal

I’ve tested with two Samsung 970 Pros and two Intel 760p drives. Same behavior from all of them. Doesn’t matter if they’re the only drives in the system or not.

Then I'm not sure what you were asking. You can't have anything other NVMe drives in the M.2 form factor here. It's also apparently not brand specific because I am having this issue with four different drives of four different capacities. I tried your suggestion above, and no dice. I'll PM dsanke about it.

I also remember my old Clevo P770ZM with the Prema BIOS having a similar problem. As I said, it's not the end of the world if I can't get a fix. The computer otherwise works absolutely perfectly.

Oh sorry I didn't know that your taptop has no other form factor than M.2

Anyway, your only solution now would be with the BIOS developer.

    Good luck

It has a 2.5-inch slot as well, but that's SATA and thus, doesn't experience the problem.

When I swapped my M.2 SATA drive back into the system, it started doing the same thing. I ended up performing a hard BIOS reset, and that seems to have fixed it. :geek:
