I purchased a GT72S dragon edition in December and also a Steelseries Rival 300 mouse along with it. One of the minor annoyances that I had with the laptop is that the Steelseries keyboard on the laptop supported SSE 2 only whereas the Rival 300 supported SSE3. Though you can have both versions of them installed side by side but it was still mildly annoying to me.
Today after a long time I updated the softwares/utils/firmware from the MSI website and I am still not sure if it is because of this but the Keyboard started appearing in SSE3 and not 2 !
I am not still sure if this is exclusive to the GT72s and would like to hear if anyone else has had any luck with this ?

I believe most machines with any version of SSE do work, but with different results. I remember installing SS3 and it did pick up my GT80. I was able to make custom macro button combinations etc, as well as control the brightness with the program. But my FN+ keys didn't work properly.

Surprisingly SSE3 did not recognize my keyboard, till today

They added it in 3.6.5 and more models in 3.6.6.

SteelSeries Engine 3 now natively supports the GT72 keyboard...
