    Hi there,

I'm considering switching from my GT60 to the GS70. The GS70 satisfies all of my criteria, save for one concern.
Audio is very important to me, and I was happy with the audio on the GT60. The subwoofer is located roughly in the center of the laptop, so the bass is distributed evenly all around the laptop.
However, the subwoofer on the GS70 is located on the end of one side of the laptop, so I fear that the bass may be focused on only that side.
Could those who have a GS70 tell me if it sounds like the bass is coming from only one lateral side of the laptop or if it's more or less laterally balanced?

    Thanks in advance.

In this regard, how is the speaker sound quality on the GS70 as a whole? I've read some complaints around the internet about the subwoofer being completely silent when playing certain things. If someone can provide a comparison with the GT-series, that would be greatly appreciated as well.

Question: why are you jumping from a GT60 to GS70?

About the sound - Im 100% sure the GS series don't have a good sounding sub, compared to the GT series.
Reason: the space is tight in the GS and the sub is smaller. The sub's internal enclosure is also smaller, leading to lower sonic performance.

Frankly, the GT series have one of the industry's biggest laptop subwoofer enclosures on the market and this is part of the reason why they sound so good.
Clevo, as a comparison, features way smaller speaker boxes for their subs (and they have some crossover issues aswell), so they sound really bad compared to MSI.

I want a larger screen, yet a more portable option because I'm a university student, so portability has become a huge factor and the GT60 is a brick. I'm also gaming less, but MSI still brings most of what I want in a laptop.
I have two hard drives on my GT60, so putting this in perspective, switching to the GS70 would be cutting the weight down by nearly half, despite the GS70 having a larger screen.

Yeah I'm aware that there's no way that a slimmer laptop can output a better bass response, but I was only hoping that MSI could manage something satisfactory in the GS70 considering their flamboyant advertising.

Just out of curiosity then, do you know of any laptops with similar (or even larger) subwoofer enclosures/bass response to the GT models?

I think the ASUS ROG laptop series have quite a nice subwoofer. Dunno how good the sound is but sure the sub is big as GT60 or bigger.

Yeah, though unfortunately the ROGs are even heavier than the GTs :(
