I have a MSI P65 (GS65) and just the other day the speakers started screaming like it's at a metal band concert. I updated drivers, uninstalled drivers, and reinstalled drivers...nothing was working. I was facing either having to do a factory reset or a BIOS reset. The BIOS reset did it.
So if your laptop suddenly sounds like it's screaming along to its favorite metal band and nothing is helping to fix it, try the BIOS reset.

Have you tried just powering down the system and then turn it back online before you had performed the BIOS reset? -
I clicked the button on the bottom of the laptop. The tiny little pin button. Though the BIOS reset could be done from entering safe mode while restarting.Kevin@GenTechPC likes this. -
Incase the bios reset doesnt work. On a msi gt62vr I found that the windows speaker drivers can cause this to happen and that you should try revert the drivers to the factory settings the laptop originally came with.
