    Hi guys,

I wanted to know if your MSI with dynaudio or THX speakers really delivers.

I'd like to know the model you own and how satisfied or not you are, and if you still needed extra speakers for example for nice bass or high volume sound like a party.

the 4 speakers + 1 sub on my E7405 has really loud volume and clarity. I need to turn it down or else it's too high to bear.

if you are an audiophile though you need external speakers or headphones.

Personally I use headphones while gaming because it's better than any speaker setup.

well, keep in mind that whenever someone says that sound is "very good/exceptional sound", they actually mean "very good/exceptional sound for a laptop".

I myself had a gx660r which everyone praises for it's audio quality. I must say i was originally impressed by it, until i put it up against my acer (see sig) which i had not used without an external speaker system for quite some time. Volume was approximately the same, with the msi being a little louder, acer had a little more "bass" (to be read as "low-mids") but sacrificed crispness (personally i liked my acer's sound better). All in all i was underwhelmed by it's performance, considering that it's about 2 years newer than mine, has had a professional audio group work on it, an some people hype it up to the point of claiming not to need externals.

Now: I own a Logitech x530 5.1 sound system for gaming, Sennheiser in-ears for on-the-go and a stereo Pioneer reference speaker system for when i want some hifi.
You can not compare the puny speakers of the 660 with any of the above, with the x530 being a pretty common low/mid budget setup for the past few years.

Sure, dynaudio did the best they could given the restrictions, and it is better than most of the competition has to offer, but if you want to listen to anything more than youtube clips and midi files i would strongly recommend to sped a few bucks on some external speakers.

Not trying to be offensive here, but mentioning "bass" for a system with speakers barely bigger than a coin is stretching it a little. And as for parties, you can forget it, unless your party is in your room with you and the cat being the only guests ;)

tl;dr: very good for laptop speakers, crap compared to decent sound system.

    Exactly.

I use my Sennheiser headsets anyway, which trumps any laptop speakers.

Well thanks for your input! Mentionning bass was actually intentioned as it's what they lack the most and some tests showed that even with a subwoofer within there was not a big gain aconfirmation was welcomed but I am disapointed that those new laptops get certified by thx, dynaudio and bang and olufsen for Asus, and still deliver crap! (although the sound on the new dell is said to be really good, as well at the GX680).
For parties a test on the new asus focused on that aspect too.
