Hello
Some problems several time occured when i was playing gta 4. When driving a car at some moments everything started to look more and more glare and light and after until there were only black and white. After moving a little it fixes. Also there were some problems when i turned off a game and turned on internet explorer and went to google whith my custom wallpaper. The custom wallpaper picture was flashing (sometimes when moving a cursor) time to time. after restart everything seems to be normal. The temperatures are low- not exceeding 50C. What can be wrong? Can it be some kind of hardware failure?
thanks

just did a 3dmark test and got 8k score but also an error "Graphics driver is not approved." i just downloaded newest ati drivers and still get the same thing. what to do?

What laptop?

gx660; i5; hd5870

Bad videocard or bad driver. Try another driver, for example the original from MSI's site.

ok the problem about the blinking was my fault. I didnt restart my computer after i installed my new driver, just put it to hibernate. looks like that caused flashing and after restart seems to work noemal. I have FHD screen and i ran 3dmark vantage. is that normal score for that? In gta 4 still a lot gliches occuring, sometimes the one i described, sometimes disapearing parts. Looks like gta4 wasnt optimised for radeon.

Those scores are normal. -
maybe you guys could advise how to do some graphic card stress tests because i just want to be sure if everything is ok with it. I run some 3dmark tests and havent seen any glitces but i would like to keep load for like 30 min. Thanx
-
Use furmark. If the card crashes, maybe its faulty.
-
Is it safe to use? I mean if your gpu not faulty wont it do any damage to it cause I read some threads that after that they started to have some issues?
-
If the card is overheating during the test, the notebook will clocks down to prevent damaging the card or turn off itself. If the screen messes up there maybe some problems with the card. Mine survives several rounds in furmark at 90-92*C and the card is still working as a new one.
If they had issues its because the poor cooling system or the damaged card I think. -
Ok run furmark for 15 minutes ~1200-800 res no aa, no gliches occured, no artifacts, gpu temp 76 max, average 74. Is 15 min enough?
-
If the card is defective the problem shows itself in 15 min.
-
If furmark isn't caking the card itself then its GTA, poor coding/port can often lead to issues, its probably fine.
Test Crysis, thats a gooden for pressure. -
GTA only stress the CPU in my machine (in my signaure) the VGA newer goes above 74*C but the CPU can go rogue and above 90*C.
-
If the CPU were unable to cope due to heat, you'd see the games frames rapidly die on you (It'd chug along at like 5 fps or something low).
Some graphic gliches
