    1. The 1058 has the Xpress 200m integrated graphics solution, correct? Not the Xpress 1150? And am I correct in assuming the 200m shares memory with the RAM and is not the dedicated variation?

    2. Are there any reliable Turion X2 benchmarks in English anywhere, yet? I've found some articles in French and various other languages, but I'm afraid that the extent of my French knowledge only includes the phrase "Deja vu" and those long bread sticks.

    3. What is the build quality of the 1057 (I assume the 1058 will be nearly identical)? How does it compare to a high end Asus or Apple laptop?

    4. Are there any 1057 / 1058 reviews anywhere? I've searched around a bit, but my elaborately in-depth search (Typing "MS1057 reviews" into google once and briefly skimming the first page) has come up with nothing.

    As time passes I'll think of more questions to bombard you all with.

    There's a russian review of the 1058. use the search on this site. They were very pleased with it. Good batterytime of 3:08hrs on the 4cell, fast graphics, fast cpu. It has the Xpress 1150, but that's just a how the 200M is called with the X2 chipset. It's faster than the 200M though!
    I'm waiting for mine to arrive!

    @Zeros:

    Thanks for linking to that review. I scoured the Notebook Reviews and Notebook Database section, but I never could find a link to the NBR review of the laptop. It was probably just me doing something wrong.

    @JaapvdBosch:

    THREE hours on the four cell? That's even better than the battery life reported for the 1057. I'll definitely have to take a look-see at that review.

    I was reading this thread because I'm interested in the msi 1058 chipset/integrated graphics. MSI calls it UMA ATI RS485M + SB460 chipset. In this thread, JaapvdBosch says "It has the Xpress 1150, but that's just a how the 200M is called with the X2 chipset."

    I'm not so sure the Xpress 1150 and 200M are equivelent since ATI is making a distinction between the two. I don't mean to be slinging mud on JaapvdBosch. I would just very much like to know what is the difference between the Xpress 1150, 200M and MSI's UMA ATI RS485M + SB460 chipset/graphics configuration. Is there any chance the MSI 1580's rig is roughly the same as the Xpress 1150?

    On the ATI site they say the Xpress 1150 will run Aeroglass in Vista, but they make no such statement about X200M that I could see. Will X200M run Aeroglass in Vista as well as the Xpress 1150? Will the MSI 1580 run Aeroglass (or games) as well as the hp nx6325 that has the Xpress 1150? Anyone know?

    Thanks for any help.

    Found the answer to my question in the Sticky: Gaming (Software and Graphics Card) thread on Chaz's Mobile Graphics Card Info Page in these forums and through some Googling.

    ATI and MSI do not indicate what the RS485+IXP460 chipset/integrated graphics exactly is, but a number of people on the web (see recent www.laptoplogic.com review of msi ms-1058/s271 for eg.) say it's the same as tha Xpress 200M from ATI. Chaz's sticky and ATI will tell you that the Xpress 1150 is different than the Xpress 200M and that it is just a tad better than the new Xpress 200M.

    Short answer: The 200M and 1150 are slightly different. They are both an intigrated version of the x300 GPU. The 1150 runs faster than the 200, but I'm not aware of any other substantial changes.

    In comparing the 1057 to the 1058, it seems that the 1058 comes out ahead on any GPU related scores (integrated ATI >> integrated Intel), or most composite benchmarks that include the GPU. But the 1057 has a better CPU and gets slightly better battery life.

    Currently only the 1058 supports 64-bit, but that will change in August with the debut of Merom. At most the 1057 should require a bios flash (when MSI releases it) to supprt the new 64-bit chip.

    IT's like a half breed. The video on the MS 1058.
    If you get the drivers from the cd it states 200m, but when you get the drivers from the website it comverts it/recognizes it as a 1150.

    What will the 1057 require to upgrade to Merom? Most places have been saying "just a BIOS flash." Would that come from MSI directly? I'm looking to buy a new laptop for college, and am seriously considering the 1058 because of the 64-bit AMD chips. If I get a 1057 now with Core Duo, could I upgrade to Merom at a later time without too much of a hassle?

    Also, how would the 1057 (properly configured i.e. 2GB, 100 GB 7200, T2500 or T2600) work with some video editing? I'd be using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5/2.0 and Adobe After Effects 6.5/7.0, editing Standard, not HD. Would the 1057 be able to keep up with that?

    The 1150 has 100mhz more than the 200m. Also, you can add up to 256mb video on this GPU that the 1058 has. Making it vista compatible.

    Dose anyone have any experience with the new Merom Core 2 Duo and the
    MS-1057/S262

    Can you upgrade the BIOS without a possessor installed or do you need to first install a standard Core Duo, upgrade and then swap? How can you find out the BIOS version if no processor has been installed?
