Hi guys, I'm planning on purchasing a a GT60 220US as a college laptop. I recently just sold my old M15x that I had upgraded with a 940xm and 6970M, so I'm looking for something that will be more powerful. However, my decision has come down to between that or the Sager/Clevo NP9150. I've heard people have had issues with the 7970M Drivers and BF3, ( one of my main games) and one of my main reasons for going with MSI is my laptop configuration is cheaper with a 680M than a similar configuration with Sager. My questions are: Do you think the GT60 will be a good college laptop? How will it run BF3 on max settings? Should I bite the bullet and save my money and go with a ATI 7970M? How is the cooling system in the MSI GT60 with a 680M? Thank you very much.

Would it be worth it to upgrade processor? Or will the i7 3610qm be fine for BF3 and other demanding games and school stuff?

3610QM are more than enough to keep up with the GTX 680M. You only get slightly higher FPS boost with games that are CPU bound :)

Would a 3610qm and 680M be able to max out SC2 easily?

Wow, thats awesome! My only worry is cooling inside the laptop. XTOTIC PC is offering this copper cooling upgrade for $85 and I want to get it but it's out of my budget, however I did get the better thermal paste. You think that will do?

Yeah, to be honest I don`t think you`ll gain a lot (if anything) with the copper mod. They just glue copper on top of the existing copper you have, extending it so that the fan can whirl away more heat. I think they said you lose about 3-4C with this mod. Thermal paste is way better investement. You get a very noticable decrease of temperature compared with stock paste :)

Ok..looks like I won't go with the copper mod. At this point I'm almost ready to put in an order, but I just configured a NP9150 with a bluray reader and I7 3720qm, would that be a considerable difference in gaming and browsing/listening to music than from the i7 3610?
