I've read all the reviews etc here seems like a really nice laptop to play games on, I've been considering the gs70 or the Razer Pro I'm more interested in the gs70 tho, the gs70's price point is $2299 for the 128gb and $2499 for the 256gb so the prices are roughly same as that of the Razer, I live in Australia to :)

Thanks guys any help will be greatly appreciated :)

GS70 looks like a beautiful machine but it has several sacrifices in order to meet it's slimline chassis: a soldered CPU, not having a GTX780M, a 2xmSATA instead of 3xSuperRAID card (this seems more like a cop out rather than a technical limitation). It's also larger than I'd like, but that's a whole other issue.

That being said, if you are seriously considering getting the 256GB version, you should consider buying the 128GB version and then putting the difference toward a second mSATA drive. That way you can use Intel RST to cache the mechanical hard drive. Unless of course Australian prices are way off, because even in Canada, you can pick up a solid 240/256GB drive for less than 200$.

I must say though, that kind of pricing is really... bad considering it's about 1700$ in the US. Given the price differential, it might make sense to buy from overseas; that being said, that will almost certainly cause warranty issues (if problems ever arose), plus I have no idea what kind of shipping charges and potential custom fees you'd incur.

*At the time of this posting, the 1AUD is worth about 0.91USD.

Thanks buddy yea If I got it I'd go 128gb I don't need 256gb ssd, I was gonna order one from USA for about $1700 but it was $300 shipping so $2000 rather just get from here :) the only thing I'd have or ever use the ssd for is the OS that basically all, I'm not really good at customising pc's like what you said to do with the ssd's lol my brain was like "O.O what" haha :)

Well i am considering to buy this laptop too and i can tell you that MSI EU Warranty have better points than US Warranty...
There's also no difference in price, i am checking every webshop everyday which offers MSI GS70 and price for
    2x mSata + 1TB(5400rpm) HDD version is around 1500-1650€
    1x mSata + 750GB(7200rpm) HDD version is around 1350-1450€

And I definitely go with 2x mSata version ... why? Because i dont need 7200rpm HDD and that 1 SSD version will come at 75% full.

So good luck in selecting the right version ;)

I bought my MSI GS70 from Tablet PC with Android Honeycomb & 3G, Wholesale Price - IPmart.com. Its a malaysia company but ships worldwide. I think they r the cheapest around 1470 usd. But the specs r different....i'm not sure why. They hav raid 0 with 2 64gb ssd and 12gb ram. i thinks its enough to get the required performance so cant complain since its so much cheaper. Just my thought

The GS70 is offered here,S.Korea, in 3 configurations, all without an OS installed.

    #1-w/1TB 5400 HDD
    #2 -w/1TB 5400 HDD + 128GB mSATA SSD
    #3-w/1TB 5400 HDD + 2 x 128GB mSATA SSDs

IMO,#1 is the best choice giving that mSATA SSDs of your choosing can be added at your leisure.

Most the new MSI notebooks are offered with or without Windows 8 Core pre installed. So far the GS70 is only offered without W8.

If you are happy to open it up, then yes you can get faster mSATA drives.

I'm having the same debate. The PC store I buy stuff from got both the 1X SSD and 2X SSD. Debating which one I should get and whether I should stick with W8 or W7

same here, i don't think ill ever use ssd only for the OS so i think the 1 ssd would be perfect an i can spend the rest on games, new headset etc

Some guy mentioned in GS70 discussion that 1 SSD version will come with 80% full SSD ... so it sucks ... i already chosen 2x SSD verison with win8 and going to buy it as soon as it will be possible(in a week or month), also i already had it in my hands for a while in a store and it looks pretty cool and fast, and i also seen that they have installed classic Win button to it and it was good but since i am using Win8 from its release date i never missed Win Button(Metro and right panel are enough.)
Anyways this laptop is perfectly optimized for Windows 8 so i dont recommend you to downgrade to Win 7...

Yeah, and remember there are several "fixes" for many details of windows 8. It is a horribly designed OS in certain aspects, and it changed too much of things that were working so it can both be awesome and be a headache in 3 seconds.

I used it for a week before I almost threw my laptop to the floor, so I installed Classic Shell and all is fine :D
