I'm looking to get a new 12" AMD laptop and I got a few quick questions for yall..

    1) Whats the difference between the S270 and the MS-1013?

    2) Should I get the better of the two now, or wait till the dual core AMD ones come out? (from what ive read here, its only 14" though?)

I'm just really confused on what to do and whether or not to buy one now or wait till a better one comes out..

    Thanks in advance.

The 1013 is the barebones version of the S270. They are the same chassis, the S270 is prebuilt by MSI while the 1013 is customized by resellers.

Waiting is up to you - the 1013 is an older model (though still quite modern).

If you can wait, always wait. if not, pull the trigger.

dual-core AMD is going to be awhile, so unless you have at least a few months to sit around, then buy something else.

1013/12 is older, but still very current, in relation to what other manufactures are offering in a 12 inch. Heck, Dell's 710m is still using an intel 855 chipset (even though some would argue thats a good thing).

I see, thanks for the speedy replies. Does that mean that I can use the names MS-1013 and S270 interchangibly? I just rethought my situation and decided that I do not want a dual core amd notebook for a few reasons..

So it seems im going to customize a MS-1013.. Ive customized the same pc at a few different websites and the cheapest one seems to be the avadirect one.. Im thinking about going with the MT-40, 1gb (should i go 1x1gb or 2x512mb?), and 60gb 7200..

    Suggestions?

Also, how hard would it be and/or where could I get a spare 8cell battery and ac adapter?

You can use it interchangeably, but in reality the S270 is only the model prebuilt by MSI (branded S270 and "msi").

but it's the same machine - the S270 was actually offered first, then the whitebooks version 1013 was released with no branding.

your reseller should have no problem with an extra battery and ac adapter.

get the 1gb 1 stick unless it costs a lot more, it's not a dual-channel system.
