No, but you'll likely need to set the SATA drive to IDE compatibility mode if it's not already set (mine was) otherwise you'll need to slipstream a brand new windows xp disk with the sata drivers present.

If IDE compat mode is set, it SHOULD install just fine on its own, and then you'll need the various xp drivers from the MSI site for the GX620 and the WiFi drivers from Intel (MSI's intel driver links are borked). I'd suggest either burning your own brand new XP install disk with SP3 and 1651 drivers slipstreamed OR just burn another CD/DVD with the drivers on it as XP will NOT end with a working WiFi link even w/SP3. Ethernet MAY work, but I've not tried it, and without the specific drivers on a disk you'll need some sort of network...

On mine, I installed the latest Intel Wifi 5300 drivers(I have the 5300 wifi card), the chipset drivers, MSI's nVidia drivers, the memory card slot drivers, the synaptic driver from their page(the pad tap actions were driving me nuts in XP). I didn't bother with the bluetooth (AFAIK), webcam, modem, and other dirvers.

XP seemed to recognize and install drivers for the modem for me, dunnoif they actually work as I have no dialup. Also no idea about whether or not bluetooth was installed and works or the webcam as I use neither. (I installed from a clean XP Pro disk w/SP3, then used a second disk with all of the XP drivers downloaded from the MSI site for the GX620m as the supplied driver disk with the 1651 only has/works for vista.)

Ubuntu 32b 8.10 found and installed all hardware fine, and still have yet to test 64b version in case you were curious.

    [EDIT]
If the above makes no sense, please do everyone a favor and order it with OS installed...
    [/EDIT]

thx, i already got a OS dics. but how and what you mean by set the SATA drive to IDE compatibility?

as i looking at my bios it said:
    primary IDE mater [hard driver]
is this mean already been set under IDE?

    Not that one.
There is one option that allows you to switch between [IDE] and [AHCI].
You have to change it to IDE in order for XP to work.
You can use AHCI only when you have the Intel AHCI driver on a FDD or integrated into you XP disc.

You can fix that if you have XP Pro 64-bit, or Vista 64-bit.
XP Home is 32-bit and 32-bit cannot give you 4GB.
