How involved would it be to replace the ODD in a GT683DXR with a bluray version? e.g., I was considering replacing the DVD-R in my laptop with something like the Sony Optiarc.

Specifically, does the faschia of the oem ODD pop right off, and should it fit any standard notebook-type ODD?

BTW, I was super annoyed that the laptop comes with a "void if removed" sticker over one of the bottom screw holes ... I had intended to replace my system's 2x 500GB Raid 0 HDs with a SSD, keeping one of the 500GB as data. Ridiculous that doing so would 'void' the warranty.

Just need to un-screw one screw at bottom with odd marking, then just pull out the optical drive
and Any standar odd will fit

Thanks ... did the faceplate from the MSI optical drive pop off and onto the new ODD?
