Hello guys. This is my fist post, but this forum has been super helpful with my efforts to maximize the performance of my gx740.

My most recent project has been to try to improve my cooling system. Embarassingly, I broke the fan while dickering about. I was hoping I could use an aftermarket fan (firstly, to try to boost performance and also so I don't have to pay $60 to get a replacement :S). I bought a 70mm case fan and have modded it to fit into the original fan enclosure and also soddered the leads to the old fan's wires so it would work with that weird fan power plug (does anyone know what that's called).

Much to my surprise and joy, the fan is spinning. Unfortunately, it is quite slow and does not appear to be increasing speed with the temperature of the components. My GPU idles at around 80 C.....

Anyone know anything about this? Because my back up is getting ripped off on getting a replacement part -_-
