    Hi,

I don't know the exact name of it, but there is a small board that connected to what I think is 1 out of 2 total M2 slows on the motherboard, the HDD then goes into this.

I have been having an ongoing problem with this, no matter how tight this is screwed in, I think the slot does not have a tight connection with the HDD and when I move the laptop slightly it disconnects, lukilly I don't have Windows on it, that's on the Evo 970 500GB NVMe.

Will this "surprise removal" as Event Viewer puts it damage the HDD, from when it finally does get back on and connected, all apps and everything seem fine, but I'd rather fix the problem.

Sometimes just screwing them down tighter will not help (and will damage the board). I believe these models had rubber stoppers in there to prevent the drive moving from the other side.

There is sort of foam on each side, but no matter how tight this is in it seems like it's still disconnecting, when I first really screwed it in hard it worked fine but since I replaced the NVMe (opened it up again) something must have gone amiss, I do find the connection very weak, not nice and snug.

See the image it's got blue on the problem areas, the HDD connection seems slack and those screws to the left as in super tight. I was looking for the bit between the HDD and the motherboard as I think there is a problem.

Will the HDD disconnecting damage the drive? It's a SSHD (Firecuda) [IMG]

It's not good for it, but I'm not sure it's actively damaging it. That said, is there anything on the bottom cover over where the drive is that looks like it's there to hold down the drive, or does it look like anything was supposed to be glued there and is no longer?
