Hope someone can point me in right direction....

The retention clip which attaches itself to the base unit from the screen, black plastic, has broke on one side, and is now causing issues on closing the lid, The plastic bezeling is coming off etc...

Therefore I am in need of a replacement screen

Have already found this excellent guide witihin these forums http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/455694-msi-laptop-lcd-screen-replacement-upgrade.html

However, I believe that I am able to upgrade the screen to a better resolution than the current stock? I believe a Dell screen can be substituted instead ?

If so can someone point me in the direction of a supplier (EU) to obtain this replacement screen ?

    Many thanks

majster_msi may be able to help you with any spare parts. :) You won't be able to send them a PM though until you've reached the minimum recorded posts prerequisite.

You should be able to install any screen with 1xCCFL backlight. I upgraded my GX740 screen to a Samsung 1920x1200 1xCCFL screen from a Dell Precision M6300.

As you can see the left hand side catch is broken, which in turn has damaged the bezel around outside....

So Im also looking not only a new screen and a new bezel :/

Are these parts hard to obtain ??

At present the opening and shutting the case is a complex maneuver trying to open it without damaging it further ....

    Thanks

The hinges are too tight. You are going to need replacement for those too (or loosen them a bit somehow) as you will break any other lid you put in there.

I actually have a very similar problem as well! Mine's just from opening and closing the laptop as often as I do. After having it about 2.5 years, the left side around the hinge started clicking a bit and needing a slight amount of extra force to open, then one day the bezel just cracked! Haven't closed the laptop in probably 5 months now. Been looking for parts everywhere! Hope you get it figured out! :)

Hey Majster, still happen to have some bezels on stock ? Magnets broke mine aswell, I hear this is a common flaw :( poor build quality if u ask me for such an expensive piece of hardware.
