    hello guys,

    do i need to remove the gpu and cpu after removing the heatsinks to apply new thermal compound or can i leave them on the board and apply new thermal compound???

    leave them on the board unless you're having problems cleaning the old paste.

    For a good repaste the old thermal compound should be completely removed before appling the new TC.

    This can be done with 100% isopropyl alcohol or commercially available compounds.

    why would you even bother? MSI already uses a good stock thermal paste "arctic MX-2" there will be a little to no difference..

    I take my fan and heatsinks out every few months for cleaning.

    At the same time I repaste.

    It has nothing to do with what is applied at the factory or by the reseller.

    Once the heatsinks are removed the TC should be redone before reassembling.

    I prefer MX-4 myself, no scratching, no discolouration of the copper and much more consistent applications.
