If your MSI laptop is 3+ years old, outside of the max 3 year warranty, how do you get parts to fix it? If I order my laptop from xoticpc, they have lifetime labor so I just send it to them and pay for them to install a replacement part. {But they could jack up prices of a replacement part, anyone deal with them for this?] So like if you have a 4 year old MSI, where would you get a replacement motherboard, screen, keyboard, or video card? How much would the stuff cost?

I'm very happy with my two 7 year old Dell E1705's, and I can find many replacement parts for it on ebay... Mb's, v.c.'s, batteries, screens, etc. But the latest Haswell Nividia 700 series laptops seem very good and its about time to upgrade.

Edit - I called MSI tech support and they said they keep parts for laptops until they are about 5 years old, then parts are hard to come by. A 4 year old screen replacement + labor might cost around $300.

Screens are not made for a single model only. You can use a plethora of screen vendors to put fix your machine. Only your motherboard needs a part replacement(and even then, you can fix a lot of possible damage on it too). Everything else is current, from fans, batteries etc. If you are creative you can even make your own case if yours falls appart and there is no replacement. ram, HDDs, cpus, wifi, screen, all those can be obtained elsewhere. Even a lot of GPUs will work with a proper heatsink/mod and vbios. Depending on which model from MSI you get, things like the overall chasis, fan, batteries, heatsinks etc are almost, or exactly the same parts, from years ago.

There is little reason to keep a computer for that long nowadays, specially since you can literally use virtual machines with far more power than your 5 year old laptop.

Also, between users here and ebay, I am sure you can find parts around.
