I went to the cyberpower customize my order

They have ram from standard major brands and kingston and cosair i think, which one should i get? What is the major brands they refer to?

Is it possible that I buy a 256M ram first, and then upgrade myself later?

If I choose only format hard disk, can I install XP with my own CD(pirated edition)?

Yes, you can do all that. As for the brands of memory- Kingston's will work great. There isnt much of a gain or any at all with the more expensive memory. The Kingston's have lifetime warranty anyways. That's what we carry, they work great. ;)

Kingston makes great memory, no doubt, but the MS-1029 is very picky about memory so I wouldn't necessarily suggest that you go with those sticks. At present, neither Corsair or Kingston are on MSI's AVL list (ie. they have not yet tested them or they have tested them and they have not passed). The only memory that is readily available that is on that AVL list is Supertalent.
