    Hey guys

I have an order in for a Pro 425 120Hz machine with a 256GB drive. I am planning on maxing it out with a 1TB SSD for a work partition and wanted to go to 64GB. I do SQL server work and there are times when my work can be sped way up (data conversions) having SQL server able to grab 8GB ram or so. That and the Vms I run are hungry for ram and all like 4-8 GB a piece. So, it seems foolish but I don't want to want for RAM ;)

Anyhow, i watched some videos and am puzzled as to how the ram is configured. I read something about the two 8GB modules already present (mines stock with 16GB 8GBx2) are on the motherboard side, correct? From videos it looks like there are only two slots exposed. 48 GB would be good enough if I can get two 16GB modules in there. I am most concerned that these are going to be empty, I do not want to disassemble the machine to get at the other two modules. Any thoughts? Also, I am planning on 2400MHz Kingston RAM - I see this ram mentioned in posts, Kingston MSI24D4S7D8MB-16, but it seems specific to MSI. Is there a known working RAM to do this update?

    Congratulations on your order!

I went with (2x16GB) G.skill 2400mhz because it's hard to access the ram slots that are under the keyboard since it requires motherboard disassembly... Now I have this ram under the keyboard and I can install 2 more in the future in about 6minutes without removing my motherboard myself.

There are 4 memory slots available so you can max out with 16GB x 4 = 64GB total.
For SSD, it takes PCIe SSD so if budget isn't an issue you can go with Samsung 960 Pro, otherwise Samsung 960 EVO is fine too. Using SSD will definitely help with SQL query, and DDR4 2400MHz is fine since that's what the system is using.

If you ordered from a vendor such as Amazon or Newegg, you are guaranteed to have RAM under the keyboard.

Only ordering from a reseller, and requesting it be in a specific place, gives you any agency.
