Hello, I'm interested for MSI GT60 for university, and I wanted to ask if I can buy it with 7970M? I know that this might not be possible, so can I buy its barebones without GPU and install a 7970M? I don't want to go with GTX 680M because is too expensive, and I study in UK, where the GT60 is from its own VERY expensive. Does anybody have an answer to my questions or can anybody recommend any place to buy it with GTX 680M but not too expensive?
I know that I can buy a Clevo with that card, but I want the speakers, the keyboard, the camera and etc of MSI so I don't know if the Clevo P150EM worth it.

    Thank you

GentechPC offer the GT60 with 680M for $1899
They also have the GT60 with GTX 670M for $1499 if you want to try to upgrade it with 7970M. I don`t understand why though since that will prbably cost you more than the GT60 with 680M. The GT60 with 680M is all complete, without the hassle to grind down the heat sink and add thermal pads to accomodate the 7970M etc.

Well, the university is 2 minutes away from the accommodation so I don't know if the weight of the laptop is a problem. Currently I am using a Gateway P6860FX with Zalman ZM-NC1000 so I think its much heavier than the GT60. At first I was thinking about the GT70 but I think is much heavier than the GT60? (or I am wrong?)

@Cloudfire: I saw that site before, but I study in the UK, not in the US, so I don't know how much the tax for imports will be...

I`m not shure but it seems that its 20% VAT for imported notebooks in to the UK?
That means a total price of $2280 + shipping $300.

I`m not shure if there are any resellers in UK but I`ll look around for you

Yeah, you are right...I will contact GentechPC and see if I can do anything...(I have read on a topic that somebody imported a laptop and he didn't have to pay VAT). Anyway, would you recommend GT60 or GT70? And 7970M or GTX 680M?

The GT60 only comes with either GTX670M or GTX680M in the US. MSI does not have AMD 7970M SKU.

GT70 is better in my opinion after trying both. Its better looking than GT60 in my opinion. Much better mouse pad and buttons (Better designed, more texture). You get a raid0 card where you can put two msata ssds in and get very fast speed. You don`t get the raid0 card with the GT60.
You get a dedicated button where you can disable the mouse pad while typing. GT60 doesn`t have one. And I`m not 100% shure but after trying both, the turbo fan of the GT60 was a bit louder.

Personally I don`t think the GT70 is any big either, but it IS bigger than GT60.
Since MSI doesn`t offer 7970M you would be better off with the 680M. A cooler, faster GPU. Plus you get new improved drivers all the time from Nvidia. My 5 cents :)
