Hello, I bought a MSI 1036 in march of 2006. After some time I noticed when i plugged in the charger to the laptop it was getting loose. Eventually I would need to hold it in physically to charge it. So I sent it to MSI to have them fix it(warrenty expired). They say I need a whole new motherboard! So my question is are they ripping me off? Does the chrager plug DIRECTLY into the laptop? I can't tell by physically not looking at it.

    Hi trizip,

This info is probably too late. The power connection on the 1036 is not
    directly wired to the mo-bo.
    (seperate circuit board).

MSI and 3rd party builders love to rip people off on this problem by replacing the motherboard. (trust me been there - paid 300$+ for that repair)

Lasted 1-week and my MS-1036 is now a paper weight.
