I ordered a new 1022 from ewiz.com and am having some problems with it. I have installed the following hardware:

    -Super Talent 1gb DDR2 RAM
    -Intel 2915 wireless card
    -Hitachi 80gb 7200rpm HD
    -Pentium M 735 1.7GHz, 400MHz FSB

Installing the components was pretty straight forward, followed by installing a copy of Windows XP professional that I already had. I installed all of the drivers, SP2, and things seem to be good. I'm very pleased with the laptop this far.

However, I have two big problems. One, I can't seem to get the wireless card to recognize my D-Link wireless router. When I plug in the USB adapter that came with the router, the wireless works fine. But I can't seem to get the Internal wireless to work. Device manager says its fine and the drivers are installed...bad card??

Second, the bigger problem. I keep getting the blue screen of death once I start anything somewhat demanding. Browsing the internet and typing seems to be fine. If I start to watch video or stream music for a couple of minutes, the system crashes, shows the faulty hardware blue screen and reboots. Windows says it suffered from a fatal error. Did I get bad RAM?? Supertalent not compatible? Not really sure what to do. I haven't even installed other software to try and pin down what is the causing the crashes.

The only thing I kind of messed up in the beginning was forgetting to set the dipswtiches for a 400MHz FSB. So at first it was running at 2.26 GHz on 533MHz FSB....I didn't think this was that big of a deal, just similiar to doing a pin mod.

PLEASE HELP WITH MY FIRST NOTEBOOK BUILD!

    Thanks!

I hate to ask (but i've come across it before) - are you using the hardware button to turn the wireless card on? Do you get the indicator light that the wireless is on?

Sounds like you may be overheating - pull your heatsink and make sure there are no plastic covers or anything over the heatsink pad, and that it's set in tightly. If so, you may want to consider replacing the heatsink pad with arctic silver to reduce temps.

Supertalent is fine with the 1022.

Well I feel like an idiot! You were absolutely right about the hardware button. It doesn't really expalin the individual buttons in the manual, I just assumed they were all for launching software. Anyways Thanks alot, that problem is at least fixed.

As for the crashing, I haven't had time to pull off the heat sink. I'll check that probably tomorrow night. I want to make clear that I did flip the dip switches so it was running in 400MHz mode like the processor is supposed too. I did purchase some artic silver so I'll try to put that on as well.

    Thanks again!
