I am not sure if this is the correct location to post, however, I have purchased a new MSI GT70 0ND 444US laptop with an NVIDIA GTX 675M 2GB card. Everything works fine using Windows 8 but I do not like the new interface so decided to install Win 7 Pro. I downloaded all the appropriate drivers for Win7 64bit and installed the Intel Chipset drivers prior to the Intel HD Ivy Bridge driver etc. When I attempt to install the NVIDIA driver, I get a BSOD with a problem in nvlddmkm.sys.
I have seen this issue reported in several forums but have not seen a definitive fix to resolve the issue. I have tried a clean install several times.
Device Manager is reporting two conflicts currently:
Unknown device on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller
Standard VGA Graphics adapter
If anyone has had similar issues and was able to resolve the issue, I would be interested in hearing the resolution

Uninstall the driver and reinstall it within Safe Mode. I had this issue with a 8600 gt recently on an Acer notebook - and I've run into nvl BSODs a lot for whatever reason. Usually, a clean install and installing from within Safe Mode usually fixes it.
*Note that the Acer I did this on blue screened once, then functioned properly from there on out after a reboot.Just in case you have a similar issue, you might run into the same scenario. Reboot if you get the BSOD and see if it occurs repeatedly.

Unfortunately loading the driver in safe mode did not resolve the issue. It occurred after each reboot in safe mode as well. It has to be something simple since the machine works fine with windows 8 however the internet in windows 8 runs ever so slowly

After doing a clean install of Windows 7 x64 and you installed the chipset software and NetFramework 4.5 install the Intel HD Graphics driver and then the NVIDIA driver without a reboot between the 2 driver installations;then reboot the system.

Not sure exactly what is causing it, but you can give the following a shot if aforementioned advice doesn't fix the driver issue: Nvlddmkm.sys BSOD
I recommend backing up your data and/or creating a restore point prior to doing this! -
Thank you for all the suggestions. Unfortunately none of them have been successful in resolving my issue.

As for your unkown embedded controller, that could be because Windows has no built-in Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) driver for the embedded ACPI controller that comes with your laptop. You'll need to get that from MSI. -
The Standard VGA driver is working in conjunction with the 4000 Driver, however as soon as I load the NVIDIA driver within 5 minutes I get the BSOD. I will reach out to MSI for the Embedded Controller driver. Wouldn't ProStar have this driver readily available? I did purchase this laptop from your company.

We actually don't supply drivers for other manufacturer's systems. Quality assurance and driver support is really up to the manufacturer, and we're just a reseller for MSI.
But I'm happy to provide support all the same to the best of my ability! As far as the NVidia driver goes - you may want to kill two birds with one stone by asking them about the BSOD and seeing if they're acquainted with the workaround when you contact them regarding the embedded controller/ACPI driver.
In the meantime, the only other workaround I found was this:
1. download latest NVIDIA Driver
2. Uninstall the previous version of the Driver & restart
3. once restarted install the downloaded drivers
4. Restart the system
5. Now you have to disable it from startup (type Msconfig in run Goto startup tab & uncheck NVidia option) (there are 2 options there)
6. Now start Services.msc from run command then find Nvidia Display Driver service & Stop & disable it from its properties
Restart the system

Disabling the NVIDIA service(s) has stopped the BSODs. Thanks you kindly. I will work with MSI on the other unknown device issue
