Alright so i bought this barebone on Amazon, it is brand new not used. So i assume its not broken I just have something in wrong. I put in the processor(T9400), Hard Drive(200gb 7200rpm seagate), DVD-RW Drive(Dell) and Ram(Corsair 667 mhz). I tested these all on my OCZ DYI barebone, Everything works fine. Though the DVD-RW Drive is to small, i got it from dell. I'm not sure if that could possible be the problem. It is somewhat stuck in the MSI barebone and i can't get it out lol. Whenever i try to turn the MSI barebone on, the power button lights on for a few seconds and then i hear a beep then it goes off. If i leave it plugged in when i turn it on it does the samething then turns back on and stays on but nothing else happens. No display or anything. I'm wondering if anyone knows what the problem is.

How many beeps? Just one? And have you checked the ram to make sure it's seated properly?

Have you contacted MSI? I don't have a barebone, so I am not sure what this could mean. I can try to look around and see if I can find a solution to your problem or direct you someplace that may have answers.

I found out its not even beeping at all, it is just the sound it makes when it turns off. The moon looking sign on the bottom is always on when its on. I think that means the laptop is sleeping not sure what it means though.

if you look towards that lower right part of in the main access panel, there is a small white plug with a red and black twisted wire going off somewhere under the casing. Unplug that, power it on and off, plug back in and viola! Back to factory defaults in the BIOS. I hope this helps...cheers!

try removing all components installed and put them back in...when I first installed everything I was so excited I forgot to turn the flathead screw that locks the cpu in, and one of my ram sodimms wasn't properly seated in its slot enough. Also remove the dvd drive while you're at it

On my MSI-1636, there is what looks like a light bulb next to the crescent moon. It's for porwer on,off, and suspend. Glowing blue is on, blinking blue is suspend, and nothing is off. Not sure if it is the same for your 1651.

    Try this:

    BIOS Recovery Feature

    For AMI BIOS

Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a floppy disk. e.g. Rename A569MS23.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM

Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive. Turn On the system and press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update. It will read the AMIBOOT.ROM file and recover the BIOS from the A drive.

When 4 beeps are heard you may remove the floppy disk and restart the computer.
    For Award BIOS

    Make a bootable floopy disk
Copy the Award flash utility & BIOS file to the said floppy disk
    Create an autoexec.bat with "Award_Flash_Utility BiosFilename" in the content (e.g. awdfl823K w6378vms.130)
Sample on how to create an autoexec:
    a. On Windows, open the notepad
    b. On the notepad, write "awdfl823K w6378vms.130" (without the " ")
    c. Save the file as autoexec.bat

Boot up system with the said floppy (it will take less than 2 minutes before screen comes out)

    Re-flash the BIOS & reboot.
    > back
