Pro-star.com authentic?

I am about to order the msi gs60 from them. Please tell me if they are authentic or not? Has anyone ever purchased from them? Can i trust them?
i know they are here on NBR and i have also researched a lot about them.
i do know that the same question was asked several times earlier in here too. but still i am not so sure about this site.
it would be of great help to me and i would really appreciate it if anyone out there could help me out.
please help.

I WENT AHEAD AND TRANSFERRED THE CASH (INTERNATIONAL WIRE TRANSFER).
PROSTAR RECEIVED THE ENTIRE AMOUNT IN A COUPLE OF HOURS. THEY UPDATED ME WITH THE STATUS OF THE PAYMENT RIGHT AWAY.
THE LAPTOP IS CURRENTLY BEING TESTED FOR ANY SORT OF DEFECT AS PER MY REQUEST.
I'VE ALSO GOTTEN THE THERMAL PASTE UPGRADED TO IC DIAMOND.
THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WILL TAKE 3-4 WORKING DAYS TO UPGRADE THE THERMAL PASTE, TEST THE LAPTOP AS REQUESTED AND REMOVE THE 2ND 1TB HDD.
SHOULD BE SHIPPED BY 17/10/2014.

*THEY TESTED IT.
*THEY APPLIED IC DIAMOND.
*THEY MAILED ME THE MOMENT THEIR DRIVER LEFT THEIR BUILDING. TOLD ME THEY WILL UPDATE ME WITH THE TRACKING NUMBER WHEN HE GETS BACK.

*THEY SENT ME THE TRACKING NUMBER.
*SHOULD RECEIVE IT IN 2-3 WEEKS.

EDIT 2 :
the FURMARK RESULTS are exactly the same as the temps attained without ic diamond according to this REVIEW (gpu burn in test with 85C)
i just received a reply from pro-star.com on this stating that during their tests on my laptop they had attained a temp drop of 1.72 degrees Fahrenheit. that is not even close to 1C. they claimed a drop of 2-3C (so did gentechpc too) when i'd enquired about it before purchasing the upgrade. wouldn't have gone for the upgrade if i'd known this. a waste of my money. messaged them the same too. anyway, the rest of the laptop is working as intended.

They replied,"sorry, my bad. i made a wrong formula for temperature calculation. it is 2.064 degree of celsius lower, which is about 3.7152 degree of fahrenheit".

VERDICT:
MAYBE IT'S MY ROOM TEMPERATURE. IC DIAMOND IS A WORTHY UPGRADE ANYWAY IN THE LONG RUN (even without any reduction in temps).
REALLY HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASE.
MY NEXT LAPTOP (if it's from the US) IS DEFINITELY FROM PRO-STAR.COM.

1) I checked their store on amazon.com and they have only gotten 7 reviews in total for all of their products (prostar clevo models) so far.

2) They haven't listed other branded laptops on amazon yet.

3) I placed an order for the msi gs60 044 with them and they quoted me an international shipping price of 119.30$ for shipment to saudi arabia. When i asked about insurance they replied,"US Postal Service charge is US$119.30 because of higher insured amount. The USPS shipping cost is US$119.30 with insurance. ($0.30 higher than $119)". I'm finding that reply a little fishy.

4) they have been in the market for around 20 years but they only have 174 reviews on reselleratings.com with a rating of 10/10 but i'm not sure if those 174 reviews are authentic or not.

5) they have very little proof for their past transactions for a company aged 20 years. (Like customer reviews, customer posts on facebook, reviews on amazon etc...)

6) their customer service seems to have only 1 person named eddie yuan since he is the only one who replies to email inquiries.

7) why don't i find enough number of reviews for a 20 year old company?

8) they only have around 780 likes on facebook and the total number people who have commented on their facebook posts will not be more than 15-20 since the scratch of their facebook page (since 2010).

9) i am really looking forward to transfer the cash via international bank wire transfer and go forward with the purchase with them because they provide a real good pricing for the products and their customer service is very prompt but i want to be sure i won't lose my money.

10) please suggest me someone who has got first hand purchase experience with them.

I will definitely come back and post a proper review of pro-star.com once i am satisfied with their authenticity and complete the transaction.
I will go ahead with the order the moment i get satisfied with their authenticity because their customer service is one of the best i have experienced so far (both phone and email).

Your opinion matters alot. It is a huge amount of money for me that i'm spending and it is the first time i'm transfering such a huge amount of cash internationaly for a purchase. A student can't afford to lose it.

My only concern is that all the posts and reviews about pro-star.com i have seen so far are by members who are new to the forum at the time of their review/post. They hardly have around 17 (most of them) to 100 (1 member) posts in total till date.
I am a too worried about the money i'm spending.
If i could find an NBR member with around 1000 or more posts in here along with a purchase experience from pro-star.com I'd definitely go ahead and transfer the cash.

There are a lot of resellers here and most if not all of the high count posters already have resellers they've trusted over the years. I suggest sending a pm to members carrying their logo on their signature to get more information

update 1:
I went ahead and transferred the cash (international wire transfer).
Prostar received the entire amount in a couple of hours. They updated me with the status of the payment right away.
The laptop is currently being tested for any sort of defect as per my request.
I've also gotten the thermal paste upgraded to ic diamond.
They informed me that it will take 3-4 working days to upgrade the thermal paste, test the laptop as requested and remove the 2nd 1tb hdd.
Should be shipped by 17/10/2014.

 

Which ─ *drum roll* ─ ...is today! It should be picked up by the courier this afternoon.

Hopefully all is to your liking when you receive it!

I have never come across a customer service as fabulous as yours! No one would ever have replied to each and every single trivial endless number of questions i had this patiently and promtly for weeks together! Every single day!!
I have never come across any retailer who goes wayy out of their way to test the purchase/laptop before shipping it in a manner as finicky as my request.
In fact i added the long list of requests in the section provided for comments in the order just for the sake of it. To try my luck out. I never really thought you guys would actually do it.

Bro good to know there are ppl in the mid east other than me who look into laptops shipped from US. Their prices are so awesome.
BTW I am gonna order from Gentech PC, the GS60 -64 the one with the 6GB vRAM.
But I just checked Pro-star's website and they are offering $50 off on upgrades which definitely will be the IC diamond repaste in my case.
Now I am thinking of getting it from them.
But the following line has put me off in their listing:

I just checked it. It should probably just be a typo. I've had one in mine too but they corrected it the moment i mailed them about it. Mail them and they will correct it the very same day.
I tracked my package a few minutes back and it's already out of the usa.
The best thing about pro-star apart from the "$50 off any upgrade" is the shipment cost. Xotic offered it to me for 234$ while gentech quoted around 140$ (both usps and their cheapest). Pro-star did it for 119.30$ and it is completely insured too! In fact i even wondered if it is some low end usps service but no! It is the usps priority "express" international. They do fedex it too (again comparatively the cheapest).
Go ahead and mail them about the typo.
I should be receiving mine sooner than i thought provided everything goes smooth with the saudi customs.

When in doubt, ask resellers directly. That way you can see which one offers what you need at the moment And you hardly waste chatting/emailing/PMing any of the resellers since most participate here too

 

No they did not charge any tax. 0% tax/duty in saudi arabia. Probably the same for laptops in uae too! Will receive it any moment today!

also what temps and fps you get during gameplay (differnt games ofc)

 

Don't run furmark, it is not representative of anything, because it taxes the GPU to a point no game even at 100% load does. Use only extended gaming sessions while monitoring temps to check for temps. PReferably put the highest most ridiculous settings on in order to really punish the GPU and see how it handles it.

 

I'm looking to ship to Saudi Arabia too. Which courier did they use for the shipping?

 

You can select the courier you prefer. They ship through almost all the famous ones. I selected usps because it is the cheapest. Once it arrived in Saudi Arabia they had it transferred to the saudi post after which they updated the status of the shipment via the saudi post tracking tool in real time.

 

I had my hands on it only for a very short period of time. Won't have the laptop in possession until the 3rd OF NOVEMBER. unexpected family encroachment!
Probably it'll be too late but i will definitely post a review then.

Gs60 044. IMO 064 is an overkill for a 1080p display. That is what i found out when i finished my tedious research on vram several months back. Maybe i am wrong but my instincts tell me i'm not, probably the work of my extensive google hours. You better consult the experts here before you wait more for it. They will surely help you.

 

Yeah i think so too, but nowadays you see newer models coming out with 6GB or 8GB. And 3GB feels a bit low. Not to mention that you can't upgrade the graphic card in the future.

But anyways, getting a 1.8k notebook with just additional of USD100 more seems like a better deal? Also with the extra 4GB of ram. At least i hope it will be future proof for the next few years?

 

Maybe. That additional 3gb might be helpful in the future.

 

I myself am waiting for the 6GB version.
Games these days are largely being ported from consoles and badly coded, they require more vRAM although it doesn't mean the graphics will be exemplary.
But future proofing requires that additional $100.

Thanks. I've had a horrible experience with USPS -->Saudi Post wherein they lost/stole my package and denied its existence (even though it was being tracked on Saudi Post's website.

If possible, can you tell me how much they were charging for the other couriers? Excaliberpc.com is charging around $150 for FedEx - but they don't allow customization (Diamond thermat paste etc) which is a bummer.

 

I got it with student discount although nbr member discount will fetch the same amount of discount. You will be able to use either of these.

 

150 USD. Is it an estimate? Because if it is it might go beyond that when they provide you with an actual quote. Pro-star.com offered fedex to me for around 164 USD.
