MY laptop (1651) was sitting on my coffee table when a friend tripped over the cord. To make a long story short, the fall completely blew the back of the jack out, pin and all.

I have successfully taken apart the laptop and it sure will need a completely new jack. Can anyone recommend both a good replacement part and a good procedure for doing this? I have attempted this once on a Gateway to no avail.

I found this part but it is does not have the 1651 listed as compatible, only 1722 and 1632.

Pretty sure that jack will fit all full size msi notebook models.

    Thanks for the post!

I'll go ahead and order that then.

Is it really as simple as just desoldering and then soldering on the new one?

You gotta unsolder the old jack and resolder the new one.
    Good luck.

would you mind taking some pictures of what the inside looks like and what that particular part of the laptop looks like, it might be useful to offer tips and to anyone else that runs into a similar problem
