    Hello everyone,
Is it possible to do this? Does anyone have any 17" IPS panel recommendations? This is my only gripe with the machine. Everything else is perfect!

Sure, it is possible, we just need to figure out which panels are compatible.

Well it does depend on the type of internal connector used which may vary depending on the generation of GS70 you are talking about.

only the current versions of GS70 with eDP connection can be upgraded with an IPS display. This can be seen, inter alia, the built-up display. ChiMei N173HGE- E11 is a eDP display and ChiMei N173HGE- L11 is a LVDS display.

At least they made the model numbers easy to read that way :) Otherwise there are no IPS 40 pin LVDS 17.3" panels, that's why it has to be eDP.
