I think the 4850 in the MSI 725 is better then the 9800 gs in the 627 however i have heard that prehaps the 9800 gs can be oc'd to 9800 gts without error because they are the same kind of chip.

What it comes down to between those two is a bit more power from the 725 and a bit more portability from the 627. Other then that they are extremely similar. Also nvidia tends to have more support but the ati card has a bit more power and will hopefully get more support (drivers ect) in the future because its still a fairly new card. IMO if the extra portability of the 15.4 or 15.6 w/e the 627 is doesn't matter to you, go with the 725.

Will you carry it around?
It's easy 725 is better for gaming and as desktop replacement.
If you'll use it for work/school and carry around=627 (smaller, lighter). And it's still excellent for gaming. -
The GT725 is ALOT bigger than the specced sizes would lead you to believe.
I had an MS-1651/GX620 (same form factor/chassis as the 627) and the 725 is quite a bit larger and heavier than that was. Although it is worth noting that the 627 comes with a 9cell batt while the 1651 only had a 6cell so it will be slightly heavier than what I recall, but not enough to make a difference IMO.
Best 2 things about the 725 are the Radeon 4850 which is somewhat better than the 9800M GS, and the 725 has the capability of supporting quad core CPUs if you ever want to upgrade while the 627 does NOT ATM. (MSI COULD do a BIOS update for the 627 to support quad core, but they haven't done so yet...)
Build quality of the 725 seems a little better than my 1651's. The keyboard feels a little firmer, and the DVD driver seems to have a larger/slightly more sturdy tray.
BTW: I have the GT725-074US model, P8600 and WSXGA+ 1680x1050 screen. My prior 1651 had a P8600 and the WSXGA+ screen (1680x1050) as well, but obviously was slightly smaller (15.4" v. 17").
So, best thing is if portability is mo0re important go for the GT627-218US, o.w. if gaming/etc. is more important consider one of the two GT725 models.
As to waiting, well there's a quad core GT725 model coming out sometime in the next few weeks or month or so. If you wait longer for summer mobile Nehalem based notebooks should start showing up, probably by August/September. (Intel pushed the release back because some larger vendors started whining about clearing out their montevina stock first, as the mobile Nehalem should've been out by now according to the original Intel roadmap...)
Pls Suggest Msi gt627 or MSI gt725
