    hello,
ive noticed that the MSI GT73VR TITAN-017 has a 94% ntsc display
    "Display: 17.3" FHD (16:9) Anti-Glare Wide View Angle 120Hz 5ms 94% NTSC Screen (1920x1080"
    http://www.xoticpc.com/msi-gt73vr-titan-017.html

Question #1: is this the best 17" display for color and specs if only want 1080p with highest colors?

Question #2: what does 94% ntsc mean?

Queation #3: how does this display compare to the newly released Sager 120hz
SAGER NP9872 (CLEVO P870DM2)? I cant tell color gamut on this product.

    thank you very much,
    Pete

I had the same question. And is the 120Hz 5ms 94% NTSC worth the extra costs? I'm thinking about getting the MSI from GenTech, but I could save $400 and get the Clevo P670RS from Xotic. I just want the best display for general use and gaming.

The contrast of color is higher and better when color gamut rating is higher.
For example, DELL has a monitor line called PremierColor which use premium panel with 110% minimum of gamut.

not going to matter much if the color accuracy isn't good :|

    1080p 120Hz with a 94% color gamut I'd greatly prefer over a 4K panel, especially when 4K/60fps won't be happening with a single GPU.

I would agree with this. I also own a 4k acer 32" display and an Acer 1440p 144hz display and for Mr the smoothness of the higher refresh rate for me has sent the 4k display back to office work.

Are there any new generation laptops shipping with 1440p screens?

    Aorus X7 v6 laptop has GTX 1070 with 1440p 120Hz display
    http://www.tweaktown.com/news/53447/aorus-x7-v6-laptop-gtx-1070-1440p-120hz-display/index.html

The Aorus site also has a 1080 model with that 1440p 120hz screen :)

I do note that the motherboard chipset is hm170 and not cm236... but in a thin laptop maybe that's ok.

I also note that the 1080 model comes with a 230w power supply instead of a 330w, so maybe it's going to be limited in top end OC for the 1080, but again it's a slim laptop case, so maybe that's a good thing so as to not tax the cooling.

Not that I am going to, but does anyone have experience using that vendor's laptops? I haven't heard a lot about them other than some reviews here and there.

Thanks. I hadn't really looked at Auros much, as I haven't had the chance to see them in person - either locally or at shops in my travels.

Clayton, Auros is Gigabyte's gaming laptop brand. Their other products (motherboards, graphics cards, etc) have generally been pretty good. Gigabyte's considered one of the big 3 PC components manufacturers (with MSI and Asus), so they're definitely a known quantity.

I've always liked Gigabyte motherboards and have owned several - I would just hope that their prowess there would carry over to laptops. :)
