I am thinking of replacing the DVD drive in my MSI GX60 and adding in another internal hard drive to it.

What I am worried about are a couple of things:

    1) I am thinking of replacing the DVD drive with Pioneer BDR-TD05RT. Any one have any idea if this is a suitable replacement, and if the bezel on it can be easily replaced with the one that is on my MSI GX60

    2) The hard drive that I am thinking of using is Hitachi 1TB 0J22413 Travelstar. Is this worth it? I am assuming that it will fit into the spare drive bay (the one that is next to the battery when you turn the laptop upside down).

Any help or suggestions would be recommended. If you can suggest other replacements (for those in the UK) that would be greatly appreciated.

Both of the drives are good.
If your bezel doesn't come with a button then you will only need to replace the one that comes with the drive that you buy.

I have 3 SSDs inside my MSI notebook.

I have no use for an ODD and physical video media so I removed the DVD and put it in an external USB enclosure for a possible once in a blue moon need..

A caddy is inserted into the optical bay with an SSD inside.

The original 750GB hard drive that shipped with my notebook is in a external USB enclosure also that has mostly photo,tv show and movie files on it.

I had a 500+ DVD and BD disk collection that I gave away....no more clutter!

My most used drivers, utilities and software I have on SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 flash drives as well as Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 installation files.

The reason why I am asking is because I want to keep the look of the MSI GX60 right (if you get my meaning), especially as the MSI GX60 has that nice "odd shaped" bezel for its optical drives.

Am I correct in assuming that most optical drives now use similar bezel hooks on their drives?

Yes, the drives nowadays should utilize a similar style of bezel. But in the past, they were different from a brand to another therefore make sure to double check the pictures before your purchase.
