hey there. i have a new gt60 with 770m so i downloaded msi afterburner to try overclocking it a bit, so i notice that i dont need to enable "unofficial overclocking" in order to raise the clock for some reason (i guess because its MSI?)

and the maximum i can raise the core is with an extra 135 and for the memory a maximum of 1000.

is it because thats the "safe" overclock for this card?

did anyone here have 770m and overclocked it a bit? i wanna use a stable settings

    thanks

It's a restriction of the vBIOS I think. You would need a modded one to be able to OC to higher values.

Out of curiosity whats the wattage on the power adapter for the GT60? I'm waiting on a Alienware 17 with a 770m but it comes with a 180 Watt power supply. I wonder if this would restrict the amount of OC one could do.

    Cheers.

Yes 180W and that's plenty for the 770M.

There is no particular level of "safe" overclocked car, some will fare better than others. Tho normally with these cards most users can indeed achieve the +135 core easily and be stable with good temps.

Try bumping core little by little and test to check your temps with the new clocks. If it gets hotter than you'd like or the system is overheating, dial it down. As for memory, that's different and you should overclock also little by little and check stability.

These GPUs have a nice headroom for OC so it will only be a matter of time before you find your sweet spot.
