Guys please help if u can.I wanna now to which freq to overclock the CPU/GPU/ The trouble is i dunno how the P1 button overclocks the notebook. Just the CPU or the videocard as well? How much does it add to the perfomance? Is it useful to overclock with MSI afterburner??? Or is the P1 more than enough??? Pleaze help))
BTW if i overclock with MSI afterburn will it addto the P1 jverclock?

Unless you purchased the upgraded 2960XM i7 processor there is no way to overclock your CPU in these or any notebooks with the 2620-2860 line of processors.

As to the rest of your questions I will leave that to people with far more knowledge than I do on the subject.

please dont purchase an XM, it would be a waste since MSI's bios have no option to allow you overclock the CPU.

About the GPU at default its downclocked by 50Mhz, press the P1 or turbo button will get it back to its intended clocks. Using MSI Afterburner with the P1 button can increase performance quite a bit 10-20% for only in turbo mode can you adjust the core clock any further than 575

Thx for a very sensible answer!
However it still doesn't answer the main part of the question - what clockspeeds are u using? Plz answer in a xxx/xxxx/xxx format. It's not that i wil use it for sure, but at least it will give me some info to go by when overclocking... I wanna be very catious since it's my first notebook overclock and i only have a very general perception of overclocking.
Btw how do u check the temperatures??? I saw some benchmark which looks like a fire circle and pushes you temps to the max... Is it a wise idea to use that or should i rather try to play crysis on ultra??? And what progr shows the temps?

mine is set at 700/1400/1700. You can check temp via GPU observer and core temp gadget just google them. Unless you push the system to its limit at 735+ and memory at 1800+ theres no need to torture it as it will be cool and stable at the clocks I set.

Then plz tell me aswell what's up with the 2d and 3d?? And what about the fan option in msi afterburner? Will the fan adopt to the temperature??

And one more. If i overclock the gpu, there is no need to worry about the CPU temps, right. Cuz i could imagine the CPU temps being affected by the whole system's temps

There are 3 mode the GPU will run at: idle, 2d with light load like movies or flash games and 3d when you play games or do demanding graphical tasks. Just ignore the fan and voltage option as they are there for desktop system not laptop.

No dont worry about temps much as long as you keep at the safe range cause MSI did an excellent job in cooling this system with only 1 fan but 2 very big vents with heatsinks and all.

Thx man i tried your freq! Crysis ran at ultra pretty smooth! It was more than managable. Another question if I may.
    a) I get 62c after 20 minutes of crysis 2... As far as I understand that`s very decent. Bot what is the limit? I would imagine 75-90?
    b) When i close MSI AB it doesn`t go in the tray. But, the frequencies i apply still remain even after i close it, right? To clock it down i need to open it again and apply another setting? right?
Dragon thx again for a noobrage free explanation!

yeah when it reach up to 90-100*C then you have to worry but below that its totally fine.
When you press X on AB it will close permanently. I just choose minimize, start with windows, start minimized in settings and keep it in the taskbar.
After you set a clock you can save it to 1 of 5 profile slots underneath.

    HERE is something interesting......

If anyone is using this, please let us know your thoughts. I also have the link for this posted in the lead post of the GT780 Owner's Lounge.

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

EDIT: I was informed this does not support mobile GPU's, but I have posted to the Author...... hopefully it's a consideration.

    :)

    EDIT AGAIN: See update HERE!

    :D

But do the clockspeeds remain even after i completely close MSI AB? Or i close the AB tool and the clockspeeds reset to default aswell?i don't , mean whether they remain in the saved profiles, but wheather the GPU continues to use them after they're closed...

Hey striker, would you be so kind to have him do it for the 560m GTX in The ms-16f2? Also soon i will be looking into getting XMP support for your notebook! Awesome work.
