Laptop in question: MSI GT60 0ne with GTX 680m with pre-installed original Win 8
All the official drivers in MSI's website ( MSI Global - Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Motherboard, Graphics and more 64) are for Win 8 and do not have an option for a Win 8.1 version, What do I do to get my old drivers back? Would Win 8 drivers be compatible with Win 8.1? What do I do with my GPU driver, the OEM was Geforce 311 now it is 327.. and What about the rest of the drivers for sound... etc... I am not a PC expert and this is frustrating..

You don't need specific Win.8.1 drivers for your laptop because Win.8 is the main OS. For your GPU driver use GeForce Experience. For all others drivers you should be fine to use all Win.8 drivers for Win.8.1. They are just not as new as those for Win.8.1.

It's a prevalent problem across many OEMs. 8.1 was forced onto a lot of people.
Your drivers should work as 8.1 is the same platform as 8, though that's not to say that some changes were made between the two that can (and have) resulted in some quirks, to say the least. Your GPU driver you can get directly from NVidia, so if you want the older version for whatever reason, you can download through NVidia's site: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers
The other drivers, if they're not working, should be either reinstalled from the available Windows 8 ones if you can, or you can try getting them from a later GT60 with Windows 8.1 support. You may want to ask MSI support about the drivers just to be sure you don't load the wrong one(s). -

Upgrading, updating and cloning operating systems can lead to errors.
A clean fresh install of the operating system will always be the best option to get an error free and smooth running PC.
If you prefer to install only official MSi drivers the look at the drivers for the newest model. You will also find the newest versions of software and utilities on the newest model's downloads

DON'T update your model's bios with another model's bios
I use mostly generic drivers from the hardware makers and find most of them on station-drivers.com
I visit station-drivers daily.

I am currently using the MSI GT60 dominator GTX 880m wireless drivers and the internet disconnects every 3-4 minutes so it does not work and neither did the solutions listed in the previous sites...
Are there any other solutions?
if not is there a way to downgrade from Win 8.1 to Win 8 without losing my data/settings etc... and without having to open recovery and recover to "Factory settings"?Last edited: Dec 19, 2014 -

Have you tried disabling the Killer service? -
Driver Version:10.0.0.287 for killer wireless N1202
8.1.0.23 for Ethernet E2200
This is the driver "KillerSuite_1.1.42.1045_Win7_Win8_Win81-MSI" I tried disabling killer and it does not change anything but the part I do not understand if a driver is working properly why would it vary ? how can it do well at night but lose connectivity in the day?..
I also tried killer latest drivers from; "http://www.qca.qualcomm.com/resources/driverdownloads/" -
The Killer drivers have been a pain sometimes. My GT70 has Killer Wireless-N 1202 and the drivers are 10.0.1.247 and I haven't noticed any problems - but no idea from where I got them.
Originally bought Win 8 laptop force-ably updated to Win 8.1 causing driver Issues
