I just received my supposedly brand new, MSI GT70 0NE-452US with 680m card from one of the major resellers that contribute on this site. I ordered from a reseller because I wanted the 72% color gamut screen over the stock matte. It is suppose to come with Windows 8 factory installed and I did not ask for a "clean installation", etc just however it comes from the MSI factory and how they advertised on their web site. I booted it up, everything seemed fine but then started to install some Win 8 Tiles. Installed about 3 games just to test it (Pinball FX 2, Cut the Rope, etc) and everytime I click on the tile, it would pop up the beginning of the title screen for whatever game i clicked on and then Windows 8 would instantly minimize it. EVERY TIME. I could click on a tile like Netflix and it would load up fine, but ANY gaming tile program, it would bring it up then immediately minimize itself automatically after about 1-2 seconds. So i thought this strange and just thought the graphics drivers were messed up. Reinstalled Intel 4000HD drivers first, then NVidia's stock drivers that came with laptop ( driver date August 2012 ver 306 i think..another hmmmm). I went into the desktop, loaded up MSI Recovery burn tool only to be greeted with a message that said "Your Computers Disk Partitions are NOT factory default Configurations. The Application cannot be processed." Hmmmmm, possibly installed on secondary 750 drive no problem. The ONLY option I changed in the configuration menu when i ordered it was the screen. So i put in the recovery DVD's that I asked this retailer to make for me, and the computer cannot read them after reboot. THEN i tried to hit F3 with the instructions that came from MSI to enter Factory recover mode and it won't let me factory recover from the partition. THEN I noticed the Windows Key on the Steelseries keyboard had the old Windows 7 logo on it so i looked up some video reviews on Youtube and noticed the GT70's that came with Win 8 had the new Windows 8 logo on the keyboard. I was also getting this error when i went into F3 recovery mode of "Your PC Needs to be repaired. A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed." and it showed File:\\windows\system32\winload.efi which appears to be the Boot Manager from what i researched online and error code of 0xc000000f.
Sooo...to make a long story short, did i get a Windows 7 version with Windows 8 then installed on it after the factory install from MSI?. Can anyone with a newer MSI GT70 0NE that had windows 8 factory installed on tell me #1) does your steelseries keyboard have the newer Windows 8 key on the keyboard (the more angular one, not the windows 7 "flowing one)? Does it have a Windows 8 branding on the bottom in the form of a silver-greyish sticker like almost all windows 8 computers have (at least from what i saw on every Windows 8 computer on the bottom at Best Buy), and any suggestions on this. The reseller is having me try something right now but just wanted to make sure. But any verification would ease my mind and I will just attribute to Windows 8 being Windows 8 and hopefully can figure some of these issues out.
Thanks!

Sorry to hear that dude... I'm also wondering similar issue for MSI laptop now. Because I DON'T want windows8! I'm worry how "clean and complete" if I order my laptop with Windows7 from the builder, as well as the one-key recovery function from the hidden partition..... because nowaday most of the builder also default with Windows8 on MSI laptop......
Ordered GT70 0NE-452US Windows 8 from major reseller and think i got a Win 7 one instead - need help
