The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    OpenGL Locks up on 1036

    And the irony continues... now that I got my laptop back, and MSI was kind enough to have updated the BIOS to the 2.10 version for me, it works beautifully.. except now it locks up whenver running an OpenGL app, specifically one of the really slick screensavers I have installed (haven't found anything else that causes it... yet).

    To add to the irony, MSI now has ANOTHER update for the BIOS on their site, but I really don't want to go down that road again. Anyone else run into this?

    There was a fix for the X700 series that I tried, adding

    Option "KernelModuleParm" "agplock=0"

    to the xorg.conf file, but to no avail. I'm mainly curious as to whether or not this is infact the BIOS or just a bad streak of luck.
